As he is the most popular jazz musician/teacher in Charlotte, I was wondering if any of you have heard of him.

Bill is one of the best friends I've ever had. He's a great person.

Whenever I'm home for the weekend, he and I usually try to take a trip in his Cessna. Tomorrow morning, we're going to attend a "fly-in" of the South Carolina Breakfast Club. This time around, it'll be taking place in Georgetown (http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?Pyt=Tmap&addr=&city=Georgetown&state=SC&slt=33.376701&sln=-79.294701&name=&zip=&country=us&BFKey=&BFCat=&BFClient=&mag=6&desc=&cs=7&newmag=5&poititle=&poi=). Never been there.

I could share stories about Bill for days...

He's that famous animal trainer all the animals pee on.

Just joking.
Yeah, I've heard of him, but mostly the jam. I really don't know that much on his background, just enough to know he's hellacious. I've been meaning to drop in on a jam session...anyone ever been?

These days, the quartet - which includes local icon Ziad - gigs at Mojo's on Montford Drive every Thursday night.

Best damned jazz in Charlotte.

What's the atmosphere like for the rest of the musicians that come to jam?

Nice of someone to mention Bill Hanna. I've known of him for many years. I first heard him play when he was playing trombone and gigging with an alto player by the name of Willie Gillian(sp).
The last time I heard him play, he was playing piano for a music clinic over here at Methodist College, about three or four years ago.
He is a truly fine player.
I wish he'd come to my area more often.

Willie Gillon was my band teacher in elementary school. No shit, that is crazy. He taught me to play the alto.
