The Softball Team

Well, the ball team is officially going and I ain't saying they don't have potential but I will say they don't have a ball bat. We are probably gonna need some cheerleaders. The boys looked good in their initial outing and I see potential. The practice was running smooth till some one mentioned beer and food. :) I immediately took over as coach and made the decision to OK the beer run. The boys had worked hard and certainly deserved it. Thats what a coach does, makes the hard decisions. I am now in the process of soliciting cheerleaders and the blonde on the corner of Central and Thomas.
I can see that we won't be able to pay much but I figure that some on this Board would feel honored to cheer the guys to the top. Fred, Miss_tery, Lainey, Sportsgirl, Stargazer, Celyn, Tami, Builder, Captain, Muff, TomBoy, Kakia, Patti, Crystal, ImOnlyHuman, Dave Newman, remember if you can't be an athlete then be an athletic supporter.

Guys, just wanted to let ya'll know that I feel bad showing my face on this board after not showing up for practice today. Coach Puttingood, I will pay my rather high fine and put it directly towards the beer fund. I'll buy all the beer for the next practice, and provide some sweet ass cups for beer during games.

While I really am looking forward to getting up with you guys, the softball thing isn't terribly likely.

Like I'd said...my weekends in Charlotte are few and far between and - between friends and family - I usually plan way in advance for the ones that I do spend here (e.g. the reason I couldn't make it today was that I spent most of it flying all over South Carolina with my buddy Bill).

I'll keep checking the dates as you post 'em ('cause I'd love to join y'all), but it's probably best if you count me out.

yeah, you guys need a bat. Math says he has 2 and a real live bag but everybody would have to be nice to him if he was the only one with a bat. Dave has a bat also but "they" could be coming after him any time now to take him back to the "farm" (if you catch my drift) ;)

I've got several old real-live bags. But their not softball bags. However, I've got a sweet ass old Country Club of NC golf bag that would work great. Plenty of room for bats, and some big pockets for balls.

By the way, that reminds me of a funny story. My wife had engagement pictures made to send to the papers before we got married. Well her hair was a little mussed up in the one she wanted to send. Well she took a Sharpie and "fixed" some of the places. You couldn't tell at all on the actual picture but when it ran in the papers the Sharpie fixes stood out more than the rest of her hair. Needless to say she was mortified and didn't like my horse laughing her at all.

I get my stitches out Thursday. I should be good to go pretty soon. I can play any position even though I am left handed. Played outfield in college but played everywhere in summer league. Who do I need to negotiate my contract with? I usually don't play for free! :D
