built a ramp for my stepson's wheel chair....had to cover an 8 inch step into the house. We did not make it flush to the door's threshold, but nonetheless, it is functional and looks decent....have to wait for the treated wood to dry out before we can stain it, but considering I drew up the plans myself, it's not too shabby (if I may say so myself)....

If nothing else. Good Step-dad. It does look very nicely done.:trophy:

Is it anchored at the step? Don't want it slipping away coming down the ramp.

ramp is not anchored at all...the weight on it is pretty substantial, considering nthere is about 40 feet of wood used to make it...I honestly wouldn't know how to anchor it...thoughts?

don't...it is heavy enough...plus you want to be able to move it if necessary.

thats what I kinda figured....I would have to drill into the concrete or something if i did want to anchor it (which I know I will not anyway), just askin.

Good point. If you were going to anchor it and keep it mobile, perhaps just a couple of masonary screws in front of the base underneath to keep it in place. But Riddel is probably right.
