I'd like to plant some junipers in front of my house. Anyone have any ideas about the best time to put those suckers in the ground?

TIA.

Not sure, but I don't think so. We do get a bit of frost in January, and of course the summers are hot and dry (still getting daily highs of 100+).

I'm thinking either fall before it gets too cold, or more likely spring, when it's raining every other day. But I'm completely clueless when it comes to plants.

Nah, I'm about 350 miles north of there. Almost exactly in the center of the state.

The best time to plant pretty much anything is the fall. It gives the plant/grass a chance to put down roots before the cold weather comes.

I've seen a few, but they're extremely rare out here. Thanks for the warning, though. :)

Now's a good time to start planting evergreens here. You could probably wait as late as the middle of October out there. Especially if you only get frost a couple nights a year.

When I lived in the Central Valley, always planted our trees in Fall. Go to the local nursery, they'll tell you when it's best.
Have an aquitance here (NC)the told me we should plant stuff more like FEB so things have time and energy to take root before they have to work on producing leaves or flowers???

Make sure you're planting a variety that creeps and doesn't grow tall.. unless of course you're planting them for screening out in your front lawn. I had to dig up 5 or 6 of them when I bought my house..you can't prune junpers very well.

If it is evergreens you want, and don't just have a hankerin for junipers..consider Cleyera Japonica..it does grow tall but is very easy to prune and is beautiful, or dwawf burford holly.

Also, if it's not screening you're wanting, azaleas or rhododendron are excellent to place in front of your house if they grow well in your zone.
