I saw it. Malkin is nice....not so nice you need to slurp on him so much, but nice.
:bsflag:
He deserves all the slurpin

~First player in 89 years to score a goal in his first 6 NHL games. Followed it up with the winner in overtime.

~Named NHL rookie of the month

~He says he's not yet comfortable playing wing. 7 goals, 4 assists in 6 games and not yet comfortable.

Malkin wins back-to-back Rookie of the Month awards, only other player to do so was that crazy fuck Ron Hextall

NEW YORK (Dec. 1, 2006) -- Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin, who led all rookies in scoring with 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 14 games, has been named the NHL Rookie of the Month for November. sdplusbeauty

Malkin edged Los Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar (3-7--10 in 13 games), Colorado Avalanche center Paul Stastny (5-5--10 in 14 games) and Anaheim Ducks defenseman Shane O’Brien (1-7--8 in 15 games). sdplusbeauty

Malkin began the month in historic fashion Nov. 1 at Los Angeles, becoming the first player in 89 years to tally goals in each of his first six NHL games. He added the game-winning goal at 2:45 of overtime in the Penguins' 4-3 victory. Malkin also tallied multiple points in a 6-3 loss to Ottawa Nov. 10 (one goal, one assist), a 5-3 victory at Philadelphia Nov. 20 (two assists) and a 4-3 shootout loss to Boston Nov. 22 (one goal, one assist). sdplusbeauty

Also named the League's top rookie for October, Malkin is just the second player to earn consecutive Rookie of the Month honors to start a season since the award was instituted in 1983-84. The first was Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Ron Hextall, named in October and November of 1986. sdplusbeauty

doesn't matter. Pens playing great hockey without him. Big comeback win tonight. Malkin is the real deal, he's solid. I will pull for the Pens to do big things the rest of the season for Playa. As big as a fan as he is, I know what it's like to see your team suck for a decade and then put together the right pieces to make a nice run to the cup.

Thanks Franchise, you're a sweetheart. Crosby is coming back in a couple weeks. Fleury should be back within a week. I'm a bit concerned about peaking this early. Devils did that last year and then .... they lost first round right? And Malkin is a beast. Another 3 pts tonight. I'm fucking giddy.

Someone is going to have to have a hell of a week to take the player of the month award from Malkin.

I would like to see the Pens win it. They sure as hell invested enough and it would be the proverbial fuck you to the city of Pittsburgh for almost losing the team.

Fleury back this week. From tsn:
Fleury will make an equipment change once he returns: He is discarding the bright yellow goalie pads he has worn since his rookie season in 2003-04 and will wear white pads, as Conklin and Sabourin do. During his injury layoff, Fleury was shown statistics that goalies who wear brightly coloured pads tend to give up more goals than those who wear white pads.

Too bad, I liked those pads. Could be some truth to that though- look at the hole they managed to find here:

Yeah, it stands out horribly but it was always so easy to tell who was in goal.

BTW-
Malkin pointless in 2 games, both OT losses. The wheels are falling off the bus or cart or whatever the saying.

Malkin might still have a reputation for being reluctant to speak his second language.

Consider what happened last year in Atlanta. After the All-Star Game, in which Malkin had two assists, he was about to start doing an interview with a couple reporters, then ran away as cameras approached.

No amount of coaxing from Gonchar or the Penguins public relations staff could get Malkin to attempt to talk. He hid in the shower area until reporters gave up.

During media day Friday, panic set in only a couple times. Once was when Versus reporter Chris Simpson approached to tell Malkin she wanted to interview him on the Bell Centre bench during the game. He calmed down when she promised it would just be one or two simple questions.

Another moment of fear came when his team escort, Penguins director of communications Jen Bullano, tried to get him to sit down with the NHL Network in a nearby makeshift studio.

"Noooo," Malkin said, eyeing the bright TV lights and somewhat formal setting. "I'm not going."

Yeah, that was pretty sweet. They were skating so slow though, I thought action had stopped.

Malkins goal was sick, but Playa's right--there's more defense played in your family football game on Thanksgiving than in the NHL all star game.

I just saw Michael Wilbumb saying the NHL ALlstar game wasn't exciting because it was too high scoring. He didn't watch the fucking game, but that's completely irrelevant. I love the guys on PTI, and some on Around he Horn are ok, but if they don't watch hockey they should keep their negative shit to themselves.

I wasn't "excited" by 22 goals, but the final 5 minutes of regulation, and the overtimes were plenty exciting. That was fun hockey to watch--reminescent of 80's Oilers free-wheeling stuff. Of course, when Edmonton was doing that, other teams were TRYING to play defense and stop them.

Ignore the negative, Playa. ignore it.
