Let me preface my thread by saying go ahead and laugh, or if you are Nawlins people, call it denial. But I am going out on a limb with possibly the most far fetched prediction thus far. I understand my theory is full of holes but some things can't be ignored.
The Hornets will be in Charlotte next year and Micheal Jordan will emerge as one of the owners.
Theories:
1- Shinn's rejecting of MJ's co-ownership proposition didn't sit well with NBA officials. Jordan had already approached Bank of America regarding an arena package.
1a- Jordan is a NC native, has ties with both major banks, is widely respected in the league but had no experience.
2- MJ bought into the Wizards to gain experience as an executive and to sit back to watch the Hornets continued erosion.
3- Following the failed arena referendum, MJ officially announced his return to the court. Coincidence? Think again.
4- Hornets value continues to plummet. Jordan sits back until the right time with financing already in place to buy 100% of the team versus his previous offer that included 51% control.
5- April 15th: NBA Board of Governors vote on relocation application. Will postpone announcement of decision until following the regular season.
6-April 17: NBA regular season comes to a close. Coincidence?
7- Following Wizards final game: MJ will announce retirement, again. Will emerge as member of ownership group in Charlotte where their offer will be considered and accepted by Shinnridge.
Remember, you heard it here first.
