Met the guy that goes to auction...told him I wanted a Toyota Camry XLE with leather...2004 or newer. Less than 30,000 miles. He's telling me it'll be UNDER 17,000 including tax, tag, title...I gave him a grand...down payment

I think this guy might kick ass...several neighbors have used him.

Look at Carmax for what one of these costs...

Only problem is you won't know if it has been wrecked or flooded until you get it.

Also, at carmax you are paying for it to be inspected, serviced, detailed and warranteed for 30 days.

Forgot to mention...also the v-6 model...

This guy checks them out....he's a mechanic. Basically gets it for you @ wholesale +$500. Went into his place...he pulled up inventory and his prices.

And the tax, tag, and title are around $1000. So I'm getting it for about $16,000...under 30,000. Excellent condition.

Guess I'll find out when he gets it...

Just went to the Kelly Blue Book site and came up with $19,740. Of course that doesn't include tax, tag, and title.

Run the vin through carfax when you get it. Your guy can't tell if it's a flood car by looking at it and usually can't tell if it has been hit in certain places.

Got the car...

Guy couldn't find any Camry's with leather...instead I got what I think is a BETTER deal...

2005 Honda Accord EX V6...Leather seats, XM Satellite built in, heated seats, alloy wheels...32,000 miles. Not a scratch on this thing. It was traded in at a Lexus dealership.

$17,000! :trophy:

Sounds pretty good - plenty of those advertised at dealers for $19k.
What's the deal with this dude - can you pass on the contact info?

If they're advertised at dealers for $19k, you can get them for $17k.

I'll post his number. Basically it's a guy that owns a repair shop and got into selling cars. He charges $500 to go to the auction and brings you back what you request. Same auction that all the other dealers go to. So, you are getting your car for what a dealer pays +$500. If you look at Carmax (no haggle), you usually save 2-3 thousand.
