I was a little skeptical at first but it has now been verified by three scales:
My new weight loss total is 28 lbs.
It will be five full weeks on Wednesday.
I lost 11 lbs this week which is what was so hard to believe.
On a side note my sister who is a doctor gave me a sermon on how she thinks the Atkins diet harms your kidneys. I am planning 1 more month on the diet. I am already at a weight where it is much easier to exercise so I plan on gradually adding carbs and sugars back into my diet. Everything in moderation will be the new diet while continuing to exercise. I can never see myself going back to the way I used to eat.
:applause: Good for you Sly!

tell your sister to shut up...remember, it's better to look good than to feel good.
i think you probably sweat out at least 10 pounds playing golf Friday. Damn was it hot.

Good one Sly, but you're going to waste away to nothing, how are you going to block at first anymore?

I would have been and will still be happy with losing 2 lbs a week. In fact I am a little shocked and scared at the 11lb loss. I mean that can't be healthy can it? Anyway I feel great so I guess that is all that matters.

The 11 pounds isn't really isn't shocking, you're probably a little more active now that you don't feel like a lard ass. And if you're eating to lose weight, the calories have to come from somewhere.

Damn that's great sly. I started at 225 a month ago tomorrow and I'm only down to 218. I don't think a case of beer every weekend is helping me much. I'm just glad I'm tall.
My goal is to get to 210 by the end of September. I think I'm going to have to cut down on my drinking. :(:(:(

How many Miller Lites can you drink per day on this diet? Assuming there are no other carbs.

There's one that I'll be at, but I don't drink any more at those than I do at home sitting in a chair watching football on TV.
Also, I'm going to visit my sister in Vermont in September for a week, and I always eat LESS whenever I'm around her and her family. They eat like birds and only eat health food.So that should help. I figure if sly can drop 28 lbs in a month then I can drop 8. Atleast I hope.

I have cut my beer drinking from about 20 a week to about 5 a week. You can have 6 Miller Lites a day during the first two weeks without any other carbs. You can add about 2 a day each week after that with no other carbs. A Miller Lite is 3.2 carbs. you can have 20 carbs a day the first two weeks and then add 5 carbs a day each week after that until you are up to 80 grams of carbs a day.
I just read the article Tiorted mentions during lunch. It is pretty middle of the road. It basically says it doesnt think the food pyramid is the way to go but a strict Atkins diet isnt the way to go either. Everything in moderation.

Thanks SS.
"Others point to Texas-size portions bred by the fast-food culture, in which diners are encouraged to "super-size.""
I took this statement out of that article because I think it speaks volumes as to why America is overweight. I don't like going out to eat because the portions are so frickin' big. If I'm unable to take leftovers home with me, I feel bad having wasted the money and throwing away the food. I wish fast food places would have smaller, healthier choices. Over the past 2 months, I've gone from 3 meals a day to 6 small meals and I feel better than I have in a looooong time. I also try to balance my carbs and protein and keep fat grams in check.
Good job, Sly. Here's to you. Don't worry, it's a low-carb brew.

You da Man, Sly. I'm trying to get everything going. I'm still trying to figure out what I can and can't have. I'm clueless as to what has carbs and what doesn't. Trying my best though.

Brilliant news Sly! :applause:
The Atkins diet is one of the easiest diets I've followed - and I may have stuck with it a little longer - had I not stopped losing weight after a week. Sounds like you've got it down to a fine art though - well done. Eleven pounds - that's one heck of a weight loss in one week though! Especially as it's not in your first week!
