Old money OLL. If I had a trust fund or any gifted money, I'd be either really high or really dead. Somedays I dream of this.

I went to my grandparents for the first time in 16 years (they've been here) last week. That was nuts - my roots are country country country. They're all out of rural mississippi.

I bought from Flow b/c they were 10k cheaper - seriously. It was retarded. I showed up with tattoos and paid cash. That was fun.

What wasn't fun was trying to sell a $35k car with manual transmission a few years later. That sucked balls. I'll be leasing if I buy another.

I get the point. It's still more badass than anything but the 550 as far as a sedan goes. And I'm not concerned with common. 5's are pretty common, too. My '74 Alfa is not common.

And it's prolly right on the 550.

As hard as it isto find a manual 335, I imagine a 550 would be tougher, and about $70k. So - 335 for me.

meatpile
12-13-06, 04:05 PM
Down payment was 1 payment plus doc fee and tag ( about $1000 )

Car was 43134
BMW finance's cocksucking jackass of an aquisition fee is 825.
Tax is 3%
Money factor was .00185
Residual was 64%
10k per year ( I'll never drive that much. ).
$565 payment X 35.

Depreciation = 13470
Taxes, Finance charges, Junk fees = $6870

Owned by a corporation so it's as deductible as the phone bill - really the only reason I'll lease.

The junk fees add up to fucking $1224. That's a pisser. I bitched and they reduced the cost of the car more, and the money factor, but wouldn't back off the junk fees, so a wash.

There's never a good deal on a new BMW. It's all a waste. But the fuckers are sweet, and I own one for 3 years.

They don't suck. There are alot of nice ones. I know sly loves his - and it's cool as shit. The SLK are badass. The S class are nice. I'd rather have an SClass than a 7 series BMW.

Mercedes, IMHO, cheapened its brand when it started selling $29k cars.

We had an 82 240D about 10 years ago. Great old car. Base model of the cheapest car Mercedes made at the time. The sticker in 1982 was $33k - and I bet the car is still as nice as it was when I had it. Translated to today, Mercedes cheapest car would be what - $60k?

I think those $60k and up cars are still badass - you just don't see nearly as many of those as you see of the cheapass cars....

BMW is about the only company that hasn't done that, with maybe the exception of Porsche.

They've ALLLLL done it, just some tried it later (today) vs. earlier (yesterday).

BMW had the 318, a great car but not a space the BMW brand needed to be in. And their low-end 3 series models with no engines really pollute the brand, as there are just SO many of them and they're really just for people that like the brand-image.

Porsche had the 914 and 924, both very VW.

Mercedes has theirs.

Rolls and the other REALLY high-end are the only ones that have never done this.

Mercedes never did until until Chrysler bought them, and BMW has always offered a lower cost sport sedan. Even the current 325 are still great cars - and on the same chassis as the 335 I have.

The Mercedes cheapo line is just that - a cheapo line. While BMW may have produced a lower cost engine - it's not nearly as bad as what Mercedes did with its entire lines of C and E class cars, imho.

You don't lose a license for 15 over - so no. I won't lose my license for 80 in a 65. Imma try to get it reduced.

We did better going to Austin. I don' know the time, averaged about 85 mph over 1250 miles. Averaged over 100 through Mississippi and Louisiana.

This guy didn't clock me. My radar never went off, and he made statements that I knew he didn't know my speed. He was facing us, and I was passing a car. I'm sure he knew I was hauling ass - 110 looks fast sitting still. He said he clocked me at 94 once and 80 twice. Since my brakes didn't hit until his lights were on, he never got me at 94 or 80. I was 110 and 60.

And you just don't argue with an 80mph ticket when going 110.

Another thing - don't speed in Texas. That was our second close call - I got clocked doing 120, and managed to 'hide' between 2 18 wheelers in a traffic cluster while the cops were stuck in traffic behind me. My radar is bidirectional, and they were fucking blaring. Then they blew by us. That got our blood pumping. After the ticket my radar went off a dozen times. Same thing on the way back. maybe 1 or 2 pops on the radar evrywhere but Texas.
