View Full Version : Backyard swamp
Anybody out there know how to deal with drainage issues ? My backyard gets a bit swampy after heavy rains ( yard slopes Back to front).
Any ideas how to move that excess water down to the street ?

I think something like this...

Although I wonder if one was to mix a different type of soil, dryer, clumpier, first into that area, would it dry it up, or go back to swampiness, I have a similar situation I've been tossing @.
Thanks guys...this seems like it would work, running this at a slope to the little drainage ditch between my yard and neighbors...maybe even extend the tubing out to the street
--plus, even a novice like me can dig a %$#@@ trench !

French drains are easy. They really move the water as well, with or without the pictured liner
problem for us is we have a pie shaped lot - probably 300 feet or more in the back - a helluva long trench to dig. Lot slopes from right to left and natural flow of water takes it right across our yard. It's away from the house but makes the back yard virtually unusable.
