Outdoor B-Ball Court

Poured today. I have boys 9, 6 & 5 and we are starting to have some good 2 on 2 games in the driveway. They are very impressed when I dunk on the 8' goal. The drive is not very level and there are always vehicles in the way, so I expanded the pad behind the garage / shop. Some of you will appreciate the etching on each end of the court and some won't. After this season, it may really hurt my re-sale value.

I may do one of those. I have a swamp in the side yard. Paving it might be as easy a fix as all the drainage work I would need to do.

Six kids and not enough driveway space for a decent hoop so I'm seriously considering it.

This is the only flat spot at my place. Court size is 26' Wide x 32' long. Not great, but much better than the rim we had nailed to the side of the tobacco barn at about 11' high with dirt court.

I actually just had a floor poured at a building for my company and had the guy work this litlle project into that price. I formed it and helped the professionals pour and brush. Tom., I'll be smoothing and putting the grass back up to the concrete.

Any ideas on the best way to get the free throw lane marked on the concrete where it will stay?

I sell outdoor athletic equipment to schools and such. We have a stincil kit that will let you slap down regulation lane and 3 point markings in a snap. I dont remember how much they are off the top of my head, but I can let you have it at 5% over my cost. I'll look it up on monday and let you know - shoot me a PM if I forget.

What is the best way to paint it on the concrete? Won't regular paint just wear off with play?

That looks nice. I would love to pour some concrete out here and make a court for my kids. I take it your are putting in a clear glass backboard. Don't forget about a nice light to play at night.

They sell outdoor paint used for parking lot lines, it's not "supposed" to wear (as fast).

I have found one for you, but we're not a dealer of theirs so you might as well call them directly. The company is Porter Athletic (888-277-7778 / www.porterathletic.com (http://www.porterathletic.com) ) and the part number is 01209-000. Retail price is $48, but I'm not sure if it can be used on both ends or if you have to get a new stencil for each end. Hope this helps.
