OK, I have scrolled all the conferences and I believe there are 71 teams fighting to get to the dance. This excludes any lower seeded teams winning out. Here's a list of who will get left out:

1. Virginia - mediocrity has plagued them all season and it will stay with them until there first round exit of the NIT.
2. Texas Tech - Bobby Knight is not a favorite in the eyes of the NCAA. Plus, Texas is a hotter team and they destroyed them last night.
3. Utah - Solid season, but no hype from a weak conference. Plus, they don't have a big name coach and will get ignored.
4. BYU - This conference is so weak. The need to merge back together like the football conference is set up.
5. Ball St. - A solid team, always competitive, but the bigger conferences will rule this year.
6. UNC - Charlotte - yes, an unpopular choice and a shaft job. But the bigger conferences will win out this year. It won't be fair but I see it coming.
7. Temple - 10-4 in conference, but barely .500. Georgia did it lastr year with SOC, but Temple is NIT bound.

Major conferences will take most the spots:

PAC-10 - 6
Big 12 - 5
Big East - 5
Big Ten - 5
SEC - 5
ACC - 4

Ah what the hell..

Tex Tech is in. Even with the thrashing from Texas.

Ball St. will be too.

I pretty much agree with you after that though. Maybe Temple. I haven't checked their SOS yet - I'm just going off the top of my head.

Forget Temple. Unless they run the A-10 tourney, they are toast, Just found out their RPI is in the 70's....most years it is higher than that.

Temple should get in, as will UVa, especially if they have another good showing against Maryland/Duke in the ACC semis.

If the NCAA committee bases this years selections on the same basis they did last years selections then UVA is out even if they beat Maryland or Duke. Last year Alabama was a 20 win team, rating was 84.25, sch was 76.21, 1-2 vs top 10, 3-5 vs top 30, RPI was 50. horrible on the road, lost 1 game at home.

Virginia as of today 16-9, rating 82.62, sch 76.71, 0-2 vs top 10, 1-3 vs top 30, RPI is above 50. losses to GT and FSU last week, 2-7 last nine with wins vs Clemson and UNC.

The only way they should get in is if they beat Duke and Maryland this week and get the ACC final or win the ACC.

they beat duke and maryland this week and get one win in the acc tourney, they'll be in. No question. Probably don't derserve it though.

I based my opinion on the fact they probably won't win against either or in the first round. That's 2-10 over the last 12. We all know they pick the hottest teams. That's why I think TT will stay home too even though Bobby Knight deserves coach of the year.

Bunch of no D playin' muthers....(UVA). Y'all are right - they ain't smelling the dance without running the table in the ACC tourney. There is no way on this earth they win here in MD this Sunday either. It's the last game at Cole. They are staring at a 6-10 conference finish. Uh-uh...

Did anyone see the UVA/Ga Tech game Sat? Unbelievable. Tech shot out of their mind (55% overall, 60% from 3-pt), but UVA still had numerous chances to win. Tech should've lost. UVA blew a bunch of free throws and let a kid drain a 3 from the top of the key with 1 second left. Pitiful.
