moved to new thread.
I would like to see the age limit moved back to 18.
This would allow high school jrs and srs more opportunity to display their skills for college and pro scouts. IMO, the college frosh have landed their deals and have moved on, so it's time to for the new blood to
come in and show what they can do.
What are your thoughts?
Great discussion. It needs its own thread

First of all... THANK YOU LARRY AND CO!
See, I have never been much of a fan of Legion baseball and I hate that it gaining its own voice and section..... oh wait... just kidding.
I agree this is one of the best things ever on TBR in my humble opinion. I love this notion that no one cares about Legion baseball anymore, but over the last few years, Legion baseball has GROWN in NC. You realize there are now four legion teams in Caldwell County (the 29ers and each of the HSs have a B team now). Also, with the success of Post 29 there is now 29er Prep teams for younger kids and they are have a ton of success as well.
I think the death of legion baseball has been greatly exaggerated...

Hey...it's got its own forum on TBR. The interest must be growing. Seriously, I feel I know what it is. After years of showcasing, people have concluded that there is room for both (I'm referring to the areas that have Legion baseball). Those who have a choice realize that there is a time for showcasing and a time to play legion. Both bring different environments and both are rewarding....and both can be played...although not at the same time.
Legion Ball is fading in my neck of the woods (Triangle area) because of the new high school summer league combined with the showcase teams. A number of teams have dropped legion programs the last few summers and the number of legionaires is not increasing. Sad.
Atleast in my opinion.

I've noticed around here that a lot of our more talented kids are playing Legion their sophomore year, going the showcase route their junior year so that they can hopefully get a deal by their senior season, then the summer before they go to college they play Legion again.
I think most enjoy playing Legion more but they think they need to play showcase to get a scholarship. That's a very common misconception.
