American because the family's been in American for 13 generations. Ancestors came from pretty much every European country.

Does your surname directly translate to a German noun? Two of mine do. They're weird translations too.
1/4 German, from my Mom, the rest Scotch-Irish, like everyone else from the misty mountians.

i never knew my parents. I was raised by a wolf from near New Hampshire, and a bear from Skranton.
I think my great-grandparents were fairly pissed that their German son went and married some hick, and vicy-versa. I hear it was fairly ugly. Pictures were withheld, housewarming gifts were returned. Whole in-law mess. Don't think my Scottish great-grandpappy cared too much though. As long as the new boy knew to keep quiet about the still, he gave a fuck not.

Finnish...when the first ones came over on the boat...they had a prefix of "Kuku" followed by the remaiming letters of the last name...the "u" has one of these ":" over it except on it's side....anyways....needless to say...they shortly dropped the "Kuku" portion of the last name after discovering what it meant in english slang.

About ~90% german I think.
I only know that on my fathers side their were some people from Belgium involved a few generations (my grandfather's father or grandfather maybe from Begium) ago.
This is also the reason why my fathers family spent WW2 in Begium.
On my mother's side... well my grandfather was driving an ambulance truck
during WW2.
PS: If I'll have children some day, they'll be 50% "american" (USA or Canada). :ylsuper:
(I will switch some day because of taxes and mentality here...)
edit
PPS: My grandparents on my mother's side have 1 or 2 cousins in Canada.
It's a pitty they lost contact during the 80s... :(

No, my family tree has a lot of branches, unlike some of y'alls. :butt:
Dad's side - Welsh (Williams) Came over on the boat around 1635. Eventually settling in western PA until they moved to Florence SC. Then eventually Rockingham. A relative of mine did a complete family tree and got that far.
Mom's side - Hungarian (Meszaros) 3rd generation...my grandpa could read & write Hungarian. My mom says she remembers him getting Hungarian papers in the 1950's. He used to read about the revolt against communists alot. My great grandpa and grandma came over around 1915 or so and settled in PA and NJ.
Mine can be traced back to 1570 to this guy....
