This is no bull shit Platoon or Apocolypse Now or any of those make believe Nam movies or series. Most of you are too young to remember Viet Nam and have heard a lot of storys that seem unbelievable and some of them shouldn't be believed. Whether you believed in the cause or reason or didn't, you need to see this movie. It has a local "tie in" and is mostly true facts. The critics will, of course, pick it to pieces. This post is not to debate the reasons why or the reasons we shoudn't have or should have. Just telling you about a good movie.:)

Thanks Putt - we are going to see a movie tonight or tomorrow. If I can talk the wife into it we'll go see that one. I think she wants to see Monsters Ball. I heard that one was good too.
Would be nice to see a nam movie without social commentary.

Took my dad, who is a Vietnam vet, to see this movie Friday. He said this was the best movie on subject that he's ever seen. Mel Gibson really did an excellent job. It would've been nicer, however, if this couple beside me in the theater didn't talk the whole movie long.

I've been meaning to see it, the trailers look good. My buddy got in a wreak last week and things have been put off.
Hearts War was not very good, too slow.

Barracuda, you didn't like Hart's War? Wow. I thought it was good. It made me very emotional, especially when the innocent black pilot was executed. The movie was like a serious version of the television series "Hogan's Heroes" and very tense-filled.
Watching these type of movies is very difficult for me because I can't stand watching people get shot, especially in the head. "We were soldiers" was far more graphic and bloody than "Saving Private Ryan." I shielded my eyes with my hands most of the movie. I don't think I want to see any more war movies for a while, though I am glad I did get to see this latest one.

I don't do war movies, so I'll have to pass on this one. But I heard a bit of trivia that I'll pass along.
The guy that was the hero in We Were Soldiers is also the guy that was responsible for getting everyone out of the second World Trade Center. That fellow was born to be a hero.

[I thought Platoon was outstanding, and Deerhunter; didn't care for Apocolypse.] this far better than all those. the homefront scenes with officers wives will tear your guts out. this being a true story based on actual events is what in my mind brings the realism home. i talked to my dad about it and his battalion was 3 hills over and about to be airlifted in as support when the 1st of the 7th finally broke through. this is a movie about leadership, valor and the sheer tenacity of the american fighting man.
VHS?? what's that?? It ought to be on VHS.
