why hs coaches can not coach club ball

please tell me why? Not too sure I understand why the high school coaches can not coach club ball. Can someone explain it to me? I would really appreciate it.

a couple of years ago, we have a coach at hunter huss, Dr Ed, who coached club ball, when we did this, we had a very competative team. i talked to one of my fellow coaches at another school about this, the concept is realitively new, kinda of at its early stages like softball was 10 years ago. i believe this will take off and in the next few years, you will see an abundance of club teams, different circuits to play in and year round volleyball. you also have to realize that the percentage of hs coaches who would be willing to spend the time doing this will always be very small. also the dead periods pertain to volleyball as they do softball plus the number of players from their hs must remain at the team minus one thing period. so if i'm correct, a coach couldnt have more than 5 players from their hs on this team. we've fought this in softball for years, we can only have eight on a team and have to combine with other schools to just play summer rec ball. i understand why, just dont agree.

There are rules in all High School sports that High School coaches can not coach a certain amount of their players out of their season, something like 1 less than constitutes a starting lineup, I think but not 100% sure...and there are also dead periods when a coach can't even sniff 1 player. Like I said, I'm not exactly sure what the rules are, but the rules are for all sports. I do know that the North Gaston coach coaches a club team in Gaston County. There are some High School coaches that coach in the Lake Norman system also, but they may or may not get some of their players. I have noticed that most of them, if not all, are from originally up north or midwest. Volleyball is HUGE up and out there.

I do understand most of what your are saying, but good coaches are not always easy to come by. This is when we usually get stuck with a parent that is just there to make sure their own kid gets to play where they want them to play and not always where it most benefits the team.

Please don't get me wrong, there are wonderful coaches that are parents of their own players. I just think with all of the wonderful hs coaches that are willing to coach j.o. it should be allowed. It could only help the girls and the teams get better. Is that not what we all want?

It is no more than 5 players...I think.....but I agree that good coaches are tough to find.

Coaches working with outside organized club teams (USA) may not coach the team during the dead periods if any players on the team are from his/her school.
Also, coaches (head or assistant) working with outside organized teams are limited to no more than 5 players from their high schools.

Thanks for the replies. I understand that there is a rule about no more than five players, I just do not understand why? What harm would it cause?

red tape usually does not makes sense. I agree that should allow these young ladies to have the best coaches available. They are not going to change it. Look at the other sports.
