Watauga beats the Berry Academy 3-0.

Scores were 25-2, 25-3, 25-2. Berry score two points without WHS making errors in the whole match.

achs got beat 3-2 today. great yr just couldnt stop #10 (big hitter!!) so close in the end had the lead 14-14 in 5th game and just couldn`t find a way to win!!

Ardrey Kell WOW!!! #10 is definitely a player to watch and hearing that she is only a Jr. Not sure where they finished in their conference, but that was a tough draw. Yes, AC could have played better, but AK is strong.

Tough break for our Seniors. That is a great group of girls.

so ardrey kell defeated alexander central? not sure i would have expected that ... though having to play weddington, myers park and providence regularly will toughen up a team! and coach bell has coached many playoff matches (with providence).

i have not seen any vball this year :-( ... will have to catch some later playoff rounds in the charlotte area.

AK Knights did beat a very good Alexander Central team today. 11-10 record is due to a tough conference. Meyers Park and Weddington are extremely good. Butler, Providence, AK and South Meck could all have placed third but the best record prevails. Outstanding conference and I see Weddington and/or Meyers Park going to the championship. Congrats to AC.

#10 (Samantha Gostling)is only a junior but the entire team played well. Great team victory and looking to play Butler (again) in the second round.

3A asheville beat olympic ... no surprise there. The Asheville High volleyball team beat host Olympic in three games (25-4, 25-15, 25-15)

3A mooresville over enka ... now that is a surprise. In another 3-A match, Enka, the Mountain Athletic Conference's top seed, lost in five games (17-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 8-15) to Mooresville, the No. 5 seed from the North Piedmont Conference.

3A franklin topped kings mountain ... another surprise. Franklin (11-10) beat Kings Mountain in five games, 28-26, 9-25, 11-25, 25-23, 15-7.

2A In 2-A, West Henderson (21-0) remained undefeated, knocking off Pisgah, a fellow Western Athletic Conference school, in three games.

not a total shock. NW4A does not play the power volleyball the big conferences play. dink and dunk will only take you so far.

The NW4A obviously plays power volleyball enough to see WHS get to the third round every year and to see, Freedom, a wildcard from our league, go beat the #1 in the Big South Crest.

Funny stuff anyway, WHS gets to stay at home for another week.

Add to that Fred T Foard defeated last years State runner up I believe West Iredell and Statesville the 6 seed from the NPC defeats Big South 1 seed North gaston. Looks like the NPC might be a pretty good conference.(Mooresville also in it).....and again North Iredell NEVER lost a game in that conference.

This appears to be a topic the Cougars and Pioneers can agree on......Maybe somebody else from the little ole NW4A can play a team from the BIG conference in the later rounds.

Watauga, AC and Reynolds plays a lot of tough teams out of conference, As I stated before, someone has to get beat, #10 AK is THE best I have saw sooooo far, I know their are better out there, but Watauga goes two or three rounds every year, and up until this year AC has. Watauga wins because they make good passes, they have the best setter, and they hit from all angles, that is why they win.........they kept AC off balance. DEFINE BIG CONFERENCE?
