Anybody know anything about the Lucky Dog Volleyball showcase in Greensboro in December? Just wondering how effective the showcase events are for the girls. Also their flyers say it's for 9th-12th grade girls - is it a little early for a freshman to go to one of these things? Thanks.

My daughter, then a sophomore, and some of her teammates participated in the Lucky Dog event last year. It was a good experience in that it made her start thinking more about college and the possibility of playing at the next level. The recruiting seminar/info session was very helpful. Coaches from the various divisions spoke about the recruiting process, timelines, what to send/email, etc.to coaches. It gave us a good push to get started. Plus, it's always nice to see the girls from other teams around the state playing together. She's going back again this year.

Just my opinion but anytime you can get in fornt of college coaches and be seen it's a good thing! And this is a good showcase and well represented by college coaches.

Thanks jd05 for the comments!! What club does your daughter play for and what age??
My DD plays for the piedmont U17 red. She is one of the Setters and Plays some DS and Lebero.. Piedmont is moving players right now to see the best mix among the girls so next week it might look different than this week. My DD is 15 so we are not yet looking at the recruiting too much yet..

I remember seeing your daughter play. I was there most of the day on Saturday. She looked good playing and as the day went on the Piedmont Red team in my opinion got better and it really showed on Sunday!
My daughter played last year for the Piedmont 16's and I also was an assistant coach. Unfortunatly for my daughter she had to have her knee scoped on December 3rd from an old injury and she is not playing right now and is taking a brak to get back in shape and get her knee back to 100%. It is killing me for her not playing!!! :) My daughter is a setter/DS/libero also and she made a comment about your daughter on saturday morning that she was going to be good if she keeps working hard. Just thought I would share that.
We miss all the girls so much and the families. Hope to be back next year. Good luck and tell your DD to work hard!! It will pay off!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
.... Thanks alot for the kind words... they changed the teams on wednesday so now my DD is on the Blue with two other players and they moved 3 to the Red.. The girls are really good at adapting and seems to not bother them at all. they play agian this weekend so we will see if these new lineups help or not. I think Blaine is pretty smart at this point in the season to keep everyone moving around.. it will keep the group together i think.. Does your daugther play anything else?? My daughter played Softball last year for the High school but due to conflicts in schedule she can only play Volleyball.. just wondering.
that is the only thing that will get her there.. she is a 5' 9" setter which is 2" too short for her coach so she is learning to DS right now. The teams are being reworked again so no one know what is going on..
Everyone has to adapt right now... I guess we will see in Richmond this weekend.
