I pulled in late and the boys were well into their warm-ups. Larry, Sly, Meatpile,Bunky and Chuck. I must say that they were looking a little more sporty this week. I quickly made note that Queen was not present so my first concern was about the team having a bat this week. As I surveyed the situation, I spotted a pee wee bat and figured half a bat is better than no bat at all.
As the workout began, I couldn't help but be in awe of the quickness and agile ability that was present. The team moves with grace and quickness that this poster has only seen on professional levels.
I came home and pulled out my notes from last weeks practice and compared them to todays and I see a markable improvement.
However, I see one flaw that should be addressed and that is "numbers". They don't add up ! My calculations call for 10 people to be on the field next Sunday for the big opener but as much as I try and recount, I still only come up with 5 or 6.
In my opinion, we need to have 10.

PS--Queen, you had an excused absence.:)

I will be there next week. I should be cleared by the team doctor to play.

we're counting on you two. by the way, bear, you're pitching and batting leadoff. math, you're our starting third baseman and batting second. :)

we figure that if we feel "short" before a game, we can go "recruiting" on saturday nights.

i say we start a new pitcher each inning.

that might not be a bad idea.

Batting 2nd is cool. But you really don't want me playing 3rd. Anywhere in the outfield is better.

Next Sunday we should make a point of rotating the pitcher with the batters.

Is this fast pitch softball? I really don't think I can lob the ball over the plate without getting someone killed.
