Are there any statewide rankings or polls out yet for this year?

nothing on Maxpreps, HighSchoolSports, HighSchoolOT, NCPreps, CarolinaPreps, or Ihigh
I'm guessing there really isn't much of a source to determine rankings.

I'm looking to start ranking the volleyball teams at carolinapreps.com but I need some correspondents to help gather information and get some interest. If anyone is willing to help me out in gathering information, I'll start reporting on volleyball and even start writing stories on teams, shooting photos, and doing rankings.
If anyone can help, email me at prepinfo@carolinapreps.com.
has rankings nationally and for each state. they have Rose as #3 in country.

They are a computerized ranking that makes you scratch your head. I think that most people would say that the top 5 (Rose, Conley, Gibbons, West Henderson, and Apex) area among the top teams in the state. After that, things get goofy. A smaller private school has scores entered for five games and they have a 1-4 record and is ranked in the top 10. How does that happen?
Until the ranking formula is tweaked and more teams enter their information, the rankings will not be reliable.

There are simply too many teams and too few common opponents. In the sport I know best, softball, one coach in-state has been successful at getting his teams 'nationally ranked' but no one that is truly knowledgeable about the sport puts much stock in these things. Think how much controversy there is in ranking D1 college football teams! There are only 120 of these teams, a sophisticated data base bolstered by a web of common opponents and the ability to actually watch the top 50 teams play virtually every week on TV. Thinking HS rankings mean anything is pure folly.

The rankings are definitely a function of who is entering scores for individual matches and therefore are not accurate (private school in Fayetteville).
There also needs to be rankings based on school classifications.
I have seen 9 of the 25 teams listed and do believe that 7 of them are deserving of rankings in the Top 25. Each of them have strong hitters, setters that can cover court and put the ball in the hitters wheelhouse, and above average to excellent defense.
Best of luck to all teams as the h.s. regular season ends and post-season play begins
