Who do you want to own the expansion team?
Steve Belkin Pro's - lots o' cash, Larry Bird
Steve Belkin Con's - ?
Robert Johnson Pro's - what young black player wouldn't want to play for the owner of BET?
Robert Johnson Con's - no Larry Bird
Belkin.
But either one really.

Johnson needs to get a ringer on board as well. I wonder if Michael has any interest?

I think Mikey is pretty tied up there in DC

With Johnson, think of all the media attention we would get as a team owned by the first african american owner in the NBA. Media attention means good things.

Either, as long as they are Shinnridge...
Actually, I think Robert Johnson should add Magic Johnson to his ownership group.
Two benefits:
1. You can never have enough Johnsons;
2. Magic vs. Larry, one more time...

I would prefer Belkin simply because of Bird- I think Bird could be the next Jerry West in terms of building a team.
If it was just Belkin vs. Johnson-I would rather have Johnson simply because of the deeper pockets.
I will be happy with either one though....

Personally I'd like to see Johnson with Bird, but there's NO way that'll happen... so I'm gonna say Belkin w/ Bird... the only reason why is Bird not only has the name, but the basketball smarts to bring a GOOD winning team here in the fastest amount of time... he also provides a name draw for fans... plus he comes across as the prototypical "good ole country boy" ...which in this area counts a LOT... If Johnson could somehow provide that as well then I'd be the first to say select him... he's got his Pro's as well but without a BIG basketball name like Bird he isn't gonna be as effective in bringing the fans to the seats... and Ewing can't do it... Magic... CLOSE, but his heart will always belong West Coast... the only one that could compete head to head with Bird is Jordan himself, but it's unfortunately unlikely
Robert Johnson's group because deep pockets are needed to play.
If Belkin's group loses, they would almost certain own the Celtics.
I don't know why Magic Johnson doesn't team up with Bob Johnson, unless he still owns a minor part of the Lakers. Bob has the deeper pockets, so he should get the nod. Anyway though that Belkin & Johnson could merge their groups  ? ? ?

unfortunately no... both Belkin and Johnson want Primary ownership of a team... if one of the 2 wouldn't mind playing second fiddle then it could be a BIG possibility... but neither want that

i'm torn between the two. i honestly wouldn't mind either of the 2 groups winning. Johnson brings the media attention, marketng skills, demographics and networking that is rare. the BBC (belkin, bird, carr) group is definitely the basketball savvy group. either way, i'm happy.
