Shit, I'm not sold on Vanilla Ice yet, being a tarheel fan and all, but I'm looking at some of the teams Duke plays to start its year every year, and I say... they are why mens basketball needs a BCS Bowl versus playoffs... and I hate the BCS system... :rolleyes:

I have said that this year duke is playing the weakest schedule in a long time. But, this schedule does not resemble anything close to what duke has played in the past.

Funny, when carolina cupcakes didn't pan out, it wasn't shitty scheduling. That's in reference to last year, which i hate to do.

Also, last time i checked, duke's strength of schedule was more difficult than the "back down to earth" tarheels.

Brain, my reference to LAST season for the Heels included Hampton, Davidson and some small school from NY...Binghampton?

The Heels beat Stanford and Kansas, which aren't setting the world on fire. Last year, the Heels lost to what was supposed to be the easy games on their schedule. This year, they haven't yet.

The Heels don't have depth nor height, but I'm sure they'll give Duke a couple of good games.

In regard to schedule strength, I'm sure you already calculated the algorithms used to produce the "rankings". It won't matter much when the teams step on the court. Looking forward to shearing your little sheep...

No just shows how you have not learned to fucking read yet. I said, Duke's schedule to "start the season", then went on to further clarify before you jumped in that I wanted to see facts where Dukes schedule the first 7-8 games is rated higher.

Duke does traditionally start with a light schedule, IMO. There is not need to get huffy and say the Heels is lighter or not. I started the thread about Dukes schedule, not the Tarheels.

Sandy, WHY would you want to use a BCS format for NCAA Hoops? If you don't think a tournament is the best way to determine the best team at the end of the season...then what? It's like having a comprehensive final for your toughest course.

To me, basketball season is a marathon, not a sprint. If you start slow, you still have a chance at the end...

I ain't a fan of either of them but... unlike college football, there is a playoff, so whether they play all cupcakes out of conference, doesn't really matter, since they play in, and usually finish near the top of, one of the premier conferences in the country.

If their conference was shit, then they better beef up to get in.

well, i'm guessing that sandy is looking for a silver lining in the two loss beginning of carolina's season. Duke doesn't schedule it's opponent for the big 10 challenge so it ain't dukes fault they played Ohio State. Duke's been running with michigan for a while now. They actually played michigan when michigan was good. Now they ain't. Oh well, they still gotta play the contractual games. Coach K always runs with army since he used to coach there. EVERYBODY has their cupcake games to begin with. How about the PROFESSIONAL teams in england that duke played as exhibitions earlier. I mean, they aren't TEAM NIKE or anything.

I guess next year, if duke plays in a tourney to begin the year, and unc don't, i'll start a thread talking about how normally duke plays a tougher first 3 games of the season than carolina.

Actually I would'nt that was intended to be a slam on Dukes easy opening schedule. Duke and Coach K have a great program, does not change the fact I hate Duke. But they are still very good despite their lame ass opening schedule. The Tarheels sucked last year, should finish in the middle of the ACC this year should get their 20 wins... I can handle the one bad year they had.

I hate the BCS format for the record as it would apply to any sport.
