Went to amo's fri nite. They just happened to be playing. Not bad at all. And, for those who don't like the whiney voice of dave matthews, you might actually enjoy this group.

I hear they were looking for a new bassist.

I also hear they don't have a sax player. A violin player's not easy to come by but you have to at least half ass a sax player. Fuck them if they can't hire a sax player.

Dave is whining all the way to the bank - very distinctive voice, love it.

well, i like his voice, but some say it's whiney.

Mag, they had a sax player and he was promoting their website, so either they have one, or as of sat morning he was no longer their guy.

I'll be at the show here on July 12th. Been to the last 4, last years rocked.

must have been an off night. They were promoted on one site as using harmonica rather than sax.

I like Dave's voice.

Seems like Dave Matthews Band fans all have different tastes. Non-hits like #41 and Jimi Thing are as well known to most (excluding the teenage girls that liked Crash, oblivious that it was a peeping Tom song). The bigger fans seem to like the live stuff. Others like the acoustic. I can get into enough of each.

So spill it Dave fans...what's your favorite format, what are your favorite songs?

I like the live material recorded between 96 and 98 most. Under the Table and Dreaming and the Lillywhite material that never got released are my favorite albums.
Anything done with Santana or Bela Fleck, but not much with Trey Anastasio or John Popper. 34, 40, 41, Lie in Our Graves, Two Step, Dancing Nancies.

Covers: Hey Joe, Stairway to Heaven, Is Chicago Is Not Chicago, Long Black Veil (I'd like to hear him do more Johnny), Eyes of the World.

Dave by himself I tend to like I'll Back You Up, One Sweet World, Granny, Grace Is Gone, Song that Jane Likes, Recently.

hmm, is it possible for your favorite songs to rotate?? I mean, from one week to the next i tend to like something a little more. The lillywhite sessions definitely kick ass. I'm a big fan of grey street, and JTR. One sweet world is a great solo song i've always thought. I don't know mag, i like them all pretty much. Everything except dreaming tree, that's the only song ive never been able to sit through. Watchtower usually kicks ass. They played the best version i've ever heard in charlotte last year. Literally said "god damn!" after they got through. I just hope they don't start putting out albums like everyday from now on. They had good songs on it, but it's not the same sound that i like.

I think after Lillywhite started kicking Everyday's ass on downloads they knew what was up. Hear they're going to work on it again, maybe move some things around.

I don't know, Everyday has some good stuff...good material, good growth with songwriting. I enjoy it. It just sounds different. I don't expect that every song will be #41 but I do want more band flavor in it. Everyday loses that flavor.

I like Dreaming Tree. A lot of BTCS was really good, but Last Stop and Halloween are just too dark. Lillywhite extends from that some, Bartender and Grace are really moody.
Raven's feeling good today.

watchtower kicks, i have to agree! that 2-cd album listener supported is another classic dave, i think.:p

to be honest I've never (knowingly) listened to Listener Supported. I have of the Live in Chicago, but by the time I'd gotten into live Dave I'd already found my own favorites off the internet.

oic. hee hee... sorta panicked there for a minute. every year in june i am elsewhere so i thought i missed. i always go when he is in town. the last time he was here was in july 2001, folsom field (cu football field) in boulder. man, that was one helluva concert! was packed all the way up to the nosebleed section and it was raining! terribly wet, but no one cared. wyclef jean opened for him. he did watchtower there, oh man! and ants marching! also #41!!! i sang along all night! :D

mags, did i just read a post of yours on another board? was that you, "mvm"? that is where i know mike and sandman from. mike and i were on this one thread that was sooo cool, "name this tune" and friggen mike guessed most of the stuff i posted. even the weird stuff! 'twas almost like you said, cool to know that "i am not an island"... or something to that effect! ;)

fanviews?
yeah, that's me. The funny thing is that I'm on just about any board that has a Panthers board, and I'm in control of two of them. So not only can people not get away from me, they pretty much have to read me :D
