Any word on who is going to fill the vacant head football slots at Butler and East Meck? What about Myers Park and Anson County?

I know South Meck is actively seeking a coach from outside the area. The former Coach left a bad taste in the mouth of South's administration and their supporters

Do they already have someone in mind or are they just searching?

The last interview for the Head coaching position at Anson was last night (02/05), a public decision should be made in the next few days. We have been told that there were 3 previous Anson coaches who applied, along with several others. We, the fans, hope the committee will choose someone who will bring are program back where it was a couple years ago, and bring the enthusiasm back to Anson Bearcat Football.

Thanks Anson Bearcats. I am not from your area but I do know your basketball coach. He should be coaching in the football program. Was an outstanding defensive back in college. I hope you get a good one. I would love to have that job but my situation is good so I did not apply. Who do you want to see get the job?

I know Coach Emory has talked to the hiring committee and Hoggard and Grooms have been interviewed along with others. Coach Davis is a wonderful person but I think he should have had more discipline than he did. I have watched Anson High (when Bowman) go from loosing all their games to bringing football back to our county when Coach Emory came back and revamped our program. I don't want to see that happen again (loosing) and not being a powerhouse we were for several years. For whatever reason, we don't know, but we have not been able to recruit assistance coaches like we had under coach Emory. I think to have a successful program you need coaches that have played the game and know the game. Alot of our coaching staff is former players that have been hired to help coach. I am not saying they don't know the game, I am saying we didn't seem to have the leadership we have had in previous years or a team that respected the coaches and had the drive to win. So, whoever is hired, I hope will be able to bring in some assistant coaches, and get some of these guys back to want to play football and be a respected program again.

Mooresville has appointed Ol coach of 18 yrs., Barclay Marsh as new Head Coach and AD at MSHS. Look for the triple option as always and more passing from the Blue Devils in the future.

You bring up a good point Tank. I wonder why CMS doesn't allow a Head Coach of a major sport become the AD also. It may have prevented a few of these guys from leaving

Not sure, could be the work load involved or conflict of intrest issues. As good a job as Mike Carter did at Mooresville he was still criticized by some because he was a football guy. And any time a problem arose in another sport (funding, coaching, etc.) football favoritism became an issue. Those ideas could'nt be further from the truth. Football raised TONS of money and he gave freely for building projects, equiptment and did not even charge a gate for things like jv baseball, volleyball and others. This allowed the student body to attend in droves. He could have charged at every event, like most, but he did not. Not too familiar with CMS, they may be too large to operate in this manner. May be some policy or politics or parents or all of the above running the show. Maybe everybody is tired of TK, I've read on other boards where nobody else has a shot with the free movement of students/players that goes on in Charlotte. That seems to make the most sense to me. Another football issue, go figure.

You know, there is a misconception of the transfer rules in Charlotte. This year was a FREE year. Anybody could transfer to a school of their choice, as long as there was room..and they could transfer for any reason.

Now, unless they move into that district, a kid must sit out an entire year before being eligible to play at the school they transferred to.

They actually have watch patrols to check addresses to ensure no funny stuff (like renting an apartment, but not living there)

Did'nt know that, sounds like a good rule. I know that a lot of that goes on in some systems (un-named) in our conference. I know of one player in particular that changed schools in mid season and it was all over football issues, no hardship or anything like that. Good rule for CMS.

I'm glad to see Coach Marsh got promoted. He really cares about other sports. Coach Carter did too, but I really think other sports will respect Marsh more since he's less of a football guy than Carter is. Is Marsh still coaching the track team too?
