This very moment I'm listening to my sprinklers going on outside and wondering why the timing is off.
But the last song I listened to was Chris Cornell doing an acoustic version of Like Suicide.
I'm not listening to a damn thing. I don't have my sound card drivers loaded. i paid 78 dollars for a sb audigy mp3+ sound card and my machine keeps messing up so i have the bare minimum drivers loaded right now............go figure:mad:
well fix that. I can't respect people who don't have music going. :p
Dark Circles (Béla Fleck & the Flecktones)
if you know more then i do about win2k server then come on over......i have the creative inspire inspiron 5300 5.1 series too. you know the 5 speakers and the subwoofer......................
I have a 32 speed burner that I've gotten to use once!!and that was to burn a miles davis cd

Nada thing either. I got too many high brow people around. It's a REAL job, see.
I would like to be listening to some Beatles, though. I heard 'I Want You' on XRC last night on the way to dinner. Everybody in the Queens area heard it, too.

favorite steely dan song.
We covered Peg for a while. Wasn't too bad, the bass parts really leave a lot to open up on.

"in need" s. crow
mags, i love this song! i can sing it now...i played it so much, i can sing it now! chords are easy!
"And if you carry me tonight
I would be strong enough to fight
And when you're weak and can't go on
I'd be the bed you lay upon
And blue is blue
And so am I.." :D
I know...isn't that just the shit? very mellow, I'm sure it could transcend styles and go anywhere from swing to rock.
Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin) ...I worked the guitar solo into a funk song the other day and people stared. But I got some backup on the countermelody by the rhythm guitarist so it's all good
So sounds like you're a guitar player...tell me what you do and what on.
see, I've talked so long the song changed.
Blue (Sarah McLachlan)
today, mainly listened to my jazz mix that a friend made for me. mostly smooth jazz...
this very moment, watching indiana/uncw game. only 10 pt lead, indiana. this is still very much a game on the 2nd qtr. i know stanford is getting their asses kicked by kansas 78-49, jayhawks. 6 minutes to end of 2nd half. kansas got stanford, i think. damn, mags, six point game on indiana/uncw now. good game...

Or Ben Folds Five, Don't Change Your Plans.

well that sucks.
I'm listening to Coleman Hawkins being torn a new ass by Sonny Rollins. Hawkins was good but he seemed to be owned by a lot of people...from Lester on up to Sonny, he's on record for having been cut. I mean, Hawk is sitting there taking his solo break and Sonny's running altissimo in blues scales over him.
Lover Man (Coleman Hawkins, Sonny Rollins)

Interesting critique on Coleman Hawkins' performance on Lover Man, magnus ver magnusson. What's the name of the cd?

yep, good call.
I'm liking this. This is part of what I hoped for when I whined to get a music forum together. Too bad RnR has had its share of music topics because this place sure can use traffic.

The Beauty of Grey is my personal favorite.
Crush (Dave Matthews Band)
This was the one that got me. Before that, the Crash CD, and on before that, I didn't pay much attention. Don't Drink the Water got me intrigued and Before These Crowded Streets put together some good music, and when Crush hit I just didn't know what to do with myself.
You know how much I got into this song?
This was the first song I ever pirated. And now I have 4291, plus at least 2000 more I've thrown out I'm sure. And this still ranks right up there.
Anyway, it made me get into the first two CDs I'd bought, and made me actually listen to the non-hit songs. Guess it created a monster.
Geez, I gotta be up in five hours. That sucks.
Where Are You Going? (Dave Matthews Band)

Evaporated (Ben Folds Five)
What I've kept with me
And what I've thrown away
And where the hell I've ended up
On this glary random day
Were the things I really cared about
Just left along the way
For being too pent up and proud
Here I stand, sad and free, I can't cry and I can't see
what I've done...Oh God, what have I done?
I poured my heart out, it evaporated
see?

reb: here ya go. lyrics. obtw, this is from the album, "other". yes it is!!!
"Carolina"
Carolina
Her tears are falling like the spanish moss
Disappearing
Into beauty found in beauty lost
So it goes
The summer blooms and fades away
Like moonlight falling on a bed
And there can be no solice in remembering
The words we never said
Faded postcards
Of all the places she loves best
Take her far away
As she presses wrinkles from her cotton dress
So it goes
The summer blooms and fades away
Like moonlight falling on a bed
And there can be no solice in remembering
The words we never said
So it goes
The summer blooms and fades away
Like moonlight crashing to the earth
And there can be no solice in remembering
The way things never were
:p
Carolina's just a song. And a good one. I'm glad a person or two picked up on that. I think it's the vibraphone that messes people up...I know that my other sax player can't sit in the same room with John Coltrane's Alabama (the irony there is implied but not intentional), but that's partly because of the bombings back in the day in Alabama. I still think it's the vibraphone.
It's all good, I spent enough time as a child singing about NC that I can deal with Sheryl Crow just singing about something, anything else.
Now that Petey Pablo guy, I don't know what's up with that at all.

Shining star for you to see... what your life could truly be...
Great Horn song...
Reminds me... "Would you mind - if I touch if I kiss - If I held you tight" - Loves Holiday = EWF
And hey just remember - "When you fell down and out, sing a song" EWF
As if I wouldn't be familiar with Earth, Wind, and Fire after covering them for years.

A Thousand Miles
Vanessa Carlton
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Makin my way downtown
Walkin fast
Faces pass and I'm homebound
Starin blankly ahead
Just makin my way
Makin my way
Through the crowd
Chorus:
And I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder
If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
Cause you know I'd
Walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you tonight...
It's always times like these
Where I think of you
And wonder if you ever think of me
Cause everythings so wrong
And I dont belong
Living in your precious memory
(Chorus)
And I dont want to let you know
I drown in your memory
I dont want to let this go
I dont...
makin my way downtown
Walkin fast
Faces pass and I'm homebound
Staring blankly ahead
Just makin my way
Makin my way
Through the crowd
And I still need you
And I still miss you
And now I wonder
If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass us by
Cause you know I'd
Walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you
If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
Cause you know I'd
Walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you
If I could just hold you tonight...

Speechless (Juliana Theory)
wow! what a song!!!
i got one....oooh i dont know if i can post private stuff...however, this one i can post: al green "let's stay together"
I'm, I'm so in love with you
Whatever you want to do
Is alright with me
'Cause you make me feel, so brand new
And I want to spend my life with you
Me sayin' since, baby, since we've been together
Ooo, loving you forever
Is what I need
Let me, be the one you come running to
I'll never be untrue
Ooo baby
Let's, let's stay together
Loving you whether, whether
Times are good or bad, happy or sad
Oooo oooo ooo ooo, yeah
Whether times are good or bad, happy or sad
Why somebody, why people break up
Oh, and turn around and make up
I just can't seeeeeeeee
You'd never do that to me
(Would you baby)
'Cause being around you is all I see
It's why I want us to
Let's, let's stay together
Loving you whether, whether
Times are good or bad, happy or sad
Let's, let's stay together
Loving you whether..."
:p
