West Stanly 86, North Stanly 84. First RRC win for a young but improving West Stanly team this season, after having won the conference regular season championship in '01-02.

As usual, Tick Mangum (38 points) and Diaz Blue carried the load for North Stanly. West, which started its only four seniors (only two of whom normally start) on Senior night, came back from a 13 point deficit with 3:30 to play to win on a buzzer beater by junior Tyler Barbee. Four WS players were in double figures (Barbee-18 points, Kevin Carpenter-15 points, Shay Hartsell-20 points, and Brian Thorpe-22 points).

The game had no bearing on the final RRC standings, as North is locked in 2nd behind undefeated Monroe, and West is locked in 7th. What that means is the same two teams will lock up Tuesday in the first round of the conference tournament at Wingate. I'd expect NS to come out rather fiery!!!!

south beat olympic by 21...65-44. Their big guy had a bunch of assists, and their gurads shot well too! Just too much for olympic.
