View Full Version : In memory of...
...my best friend of thirty seven years.
The night of the party I got a call from my best friend in the world. He told me he was in the Hospital dy'ing of Pancreatic cancer. My mind was blown, he had only found out a month before. I asked him how long he had and he thought a couple of weeks. I told him I would come down in a few days. He didn't last that long.
We had gone to HS together. He was a roughriding swashbuckler with a heart of gold and an IQ that made me look like Grog. All the ingredients to be the Rebs sidekick. We hitch hiked America from coast to coast several times in our young hippie daze. I could tell stories for days. Our memories are the same.
I just got back from a week down in WPB Fla. for the funeral and wake at His Pub. He had many people that loved him.
He left me all of his tools. I am very honored to have his many tools. He was a shipwright of renoun. He could drink you under the table.
Thank you guy's for being here. I have been to sad to post but you could still make a grin come to my face with your posts.
SALUTE Tim Dever

You don't find many soul mates in one life time. You were blessed to have one. Peace.
Damn Reb he even looks like you.
Sorry for the loss. :(
Would love to hear one of ya'lls stories.
Damn, that's pretty fucking serious. Love and respect to you and him. I can't think of a much more meaningful gift he could have left you.
Reb- I am so sorry. That has to be tough. 37 years? There are different types of soulmates and it sounds like this guy was a soulmate for you. All you can do is be thankful that someone like that was brought into your life. That kind of connection is a rare gift.
ahhhh reb, dammit man. he's not left you, every time you think of you two laughing and hitchhiking across the country he's with you every step of the way. I lost an aunt to cancer when I was very small, it's good that you remember him how he used to be, the way you knew him, not with him laying and suffering in bed.................
:smooch: :smooch:
it's a hard thing, I know:( :( :(

I am SO sorry about your friend, Reb. It can hit like a ton of bricks. All any of us can do for you is to be there. We are--don't forget if you need us.

Sorry Jreb-----I would consider it an honor to someday hear some Tim Dever stories. Stories about good people are meant to be shared and told to friends. It ain't never right to lose them but it sounds like you were very blessed to have found a friend like that. I am sure that by using his tools you will have him around and I am double sure that it will make you feel close to him. Hang in there bro and make some nice memories.

Damn Reb that's a sad story. Most of my best friends I still have and hang around with now I have known since I was 12 or 13 years old. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose one of them. I'm planning on being around telling lies and drinking beer with them when I'm 70.
I'm really sorry about your bud. Knowing how much alike we are, I'm sure he was a kindred spirit.
RIP. :(
