If using Internet Explorer 5.0
Click Tools
Click Internet Options
Click Security
Click the Internet icon
Click Custom Levels - then scroll to Cookies
The above is what I need to do to gain access to a particular site.
However, I have a newer version of MSN access that's a colorful little butterfly as its icon[I showed the above just to give some idea of what needs to be done to alter cookies access]and everything is cool until I get to the "click Custom Levels-then scrool to Cookies" step. There're no "cookies" available here.
[BTW: If/when I got to "cookies", what do I do?]
My question: For someone that gets the crux of what is called for,
what or where can I do/go to get the desired results.
Any educated guesses are welcome. :help:
Lawd! I just read this. Be gentle.:headcut: :D
are you on YOUR machine at home? the reason I say this is you can alter just about anything about IE with a group policy, so it sounds maybe like something they've done at work for whatever reason..........................
I just looked at mine and I've got a cookie's option.................
when your there theres an option to just automatically set it to high medium lo.........can't you just set it to the lowest it can go????

celyn: I don't have Internet Explorer ( per se?). I had it, and still
have the icon on my desktop; but the icon is useless, it brings up
an "unavailabe" window because the MS internet access that I downloaded has taken over. It has a colorful butterfly icon.
Note: Microsoft demanded that I download or I may lose access.
Anyhow, I went into "properties", then into privacy and lowered the scale to the lowest possible security level.
Now, I still have to connect with their site via my cookies which is the rub. I still can't make contac.
Note: I really don't know what the hell I'm talking about...

did you delete IE?
Are you trying ot get IE back?
Is this work or home pc?
Do you have a copy of windows? If so get IE off of it.
Go to Microsoft.com and get Microsoft's updates, which all you have to is click on the update page and Microsoft will check your pc for you and tell you which updates you need. You can then choose what you want to update.
You are obviously using some sort of browser.

What I gather is: I've got to establish a "bridge" so their computer can establish a cookie which, I believe, connects my computer and theirs/website(a jazz saxophone chatline).
Yes, I'm using my home computer.
They gave directions on how to make this connection with Netscape Communicator, Internet Explorer 4.0 and IE 5.(That's all.)
Brain, I believe you're correct; I have MSN Explorer.
I don't have nor desire to download IE 6.
I have the disc, and have downloaded Windows 98, 2nd Ed., but
Internet Explorer 6 is not on it.
If I change my mind, how much of a problem is it to download
IE6? Is it expensive?
I was under the impression that MSN Explorer was the latest/state-of-the-art.
:dunce:
Note: Ya'll might make more sense out of this if you rearrange my sentences.:D
Brain, I think you know what I need. Think...can I adjust the accessibility of cookies somewhere other that through Tools, etc..
Post #1. I've found different ways to the same thing. But, evidently I need to get "deeper".

Wow.....?
:D
I wasn't trying to play "stump the experts". I think a lot of computer stuff, especially repair/trouble shooting, is the randomly selecting of possible problems and solutions; rather that an exact science, per se. Of course it looks exact when you actually find and solve the problem.
Anyhow, I thank and appreciate everyone's input.
[BTW, I emailed Microsoft, asking if the installing of IE6 would
interfer with MSN explorer. I think it will, because I can't get internet access using my IE icon because, I think, MSN Explorer has taken over.]
