I told you guys that when we first started it was the same people posting over and over. We were trying to do anything to draw interest to TBR. We certainly have come a long way since then...but I must admit it was fun to add a little humor to the posts.

LOL! If it's North Meck, Braves, it's not going to be Andrew...since he pitches for nearby Hopewell!!
Oh well, like the rest of us, you've got a month to get it straight!
This gives me an opportunity to ask a question prompted by the thread on field improvements. Is it true that that there's been no snow on the South Meck field since last Thursday afternoon? Rumour has it that there's a subterranean heater and vacuum system that thaws and clears the playing surface of most unnecessary water...and a huge, automated squegee to gently remove the rest. If not, there's an idea for you and Sabrefan to bring up at the next Baseball Boosters meeting!
NCBBallFan
01-27-03, 09:22 PM
It's great if they have a heater under the field as long as it pipes into the visitor dugout also!
Yep, you might have to wait a few weeks longer (12-13) to see Cruse pitch this year.
Prepster

By the way, I hear that Gonzo's concerned about passed balls getting sucked into the vacuum. Neither one of us has ever seen that before.
NCBBallFan
01-27-03, 09:40 PM
Yeah, that's right! Some of the players are concerned that passed balls might not be the only ones afected by your new system!
ooops...I can't believe I said that!! ( I'll fix that )
In response to the South Meck field, no, they do not have a heating system in the visitors dugout....and doesn't everybody have a vacuum system under their field?
Bag's did not appreciate having the snow cover his field. But he did not install a subterranean heating system......Sheeeesh, I don't know what you guys could have been thinking!!
He's installing a Dome to ensure he doesn't have that problem again.

It's cool .....but one time an opposing player went after a foul ball back there and........ well, has anybody noticed how long Rob Wilson's arms have gotten

I know what you mean Braves. It seems like it was only last month when he was a slender 5'10". Now he is what, something like 6'13". I think he must be related to Horowitz.

Prepster...didn't you know???? Braves had a sign up sheet at the last booster club meeting . It was a manual rotation by the parents to keep the field clear and dry. Hope it doesn't rain much this season.....it's so boring when you have to pull the 11 to 7 shift without the lights!

I'm not sure that it's just the duck spreading the fertilizer now..... talk about propaganda!!!! You're going to give the other schools a bad name if your parents keep working night shifts like that.

Heres a responce to the south meck fild questions. its common knolage that south has a great field. i remember a day when rain cancled almost every game in the county, but the south independence game was moved to south, and in less then two hours we had the field playable. now since i was south's manager i will give you the secret. ok here it is... theres a room in the press box where we keep the Oompa-Loompas, yes Oompa-Loompas, little people with green hair. they come out after a storm, chanting Oompa-Loompa dopade do, and like magic the fields clear. but we have to keep this on the low we would not want to get them deported, because they will get eaten in there homeland!
NCBBallFan
02-05-03, 11:22 PM
So it's not DUCK fertilizer that makes the field so green after all!!! Oompa-Loompa's hunh.....
Does anyone know where we can get some green cards and bring some of these Oompa-Loompa's stateside from (I know, I know...but the INS insists on using the color GREEN :D ) Go Figure!
Baseball Manager 2, lol. I know at West Henderson we just use the full infield tarp, lol.

Original started this one when she innocently asked about school policy. The rest of us could resist and the BagDome was born
What's the policy for practice or "workouts" when school is called off?
Bagwell just closed the roof and had his normal practice
NCBBallFan
02-19-03, 08:49 PM
Policy for workouts when school has been cancelled ....
The players gotta do it on their own - no coaches. Since the fields were soggy, that normally means "find someplace indoors"
Except South Meck who has a dome!!!
and heated visitor dugout!!!!
and underground water drainage pumps!!!
and a game tuesday with the temp in the mid-30's........:civilwar:

Someone said that Coach Greeson might want to borrow the Giant Squegee if the BagDome's retractable roof is operable.
BagDome will be open Tuesday nite. 30- 40 degree weather predicted, but the fans ain't skeered. We had to sit through this during the football season ..ugh (I think that's what it was called )
During the spate of Ice Storms in February that was playing havoc on our scheduling, Braves submitted this one in response to a question about whether the field was playable .......
Nope...and I left my car outside

1 giant squeegee, foot operated (about 30 of them required). Perfect for baseball fields but too large for use on softball fields ... buyer is responsible for all transportation.
Item is being offered "as is" with no guarantee. Reason for sale - the Dome is being erected tomorrow. Bucket for ringing out squeegee is NOT included but is available separately. Bucket may double as a field house. Transportation is the buyers responsibility for the bucket also.
Contact South Mecklenburg H.S. in regards to this item.
Cost for squeegee: 1 Junior, .500 batting average
Cost for bucket: Free with paid squeegee. 1 Sophomore with .400 average by itself.

If checks is used instead of players (we are still on the reserve clause in this state), make them payable to:
The "SKYBOXES FOR SABRES FUND"
Anybody needing a ride to the Game of the Week @ Hopewell,
get your tickets early. The boat leaves promptly every hour on the hour
We nicknamed her " The Mustang"
For those who don't know, that's Gonzo driving the boat
The fine folks of the Sabre Baseball Booster Club would like to thank you for the plug.
We are now accepting deposits for PSL seats. Please make the checks payable to B-R-A-V-E-S @ Bagdome.com...and for a few more bucks we will allow you to join the oompas between innings for a once in a lifetime opportunity ( push the button that rolls the dome back)...included with this amazing offer, we will furnish a RED Sabre blanket for those cool nights and a GREEN one to keep those feet warm
Better hurry, 'cause the seats are limited and going quickly
Oh yeah...prices. We have a lot of different plans, but whichever you choose, you will automatically receive a 10 percent discount when checks are made out directly to Braves...so, cut out the middle man and save, save, save!
PS- I would like to thank the kind folks at Wachovia for donating 100 toasters for the first 90 fans.. Only 90 you say!..Sorry, I've got family to take care of. My in-laws want their toasters and I ain't about to tell them no

Braves...Is it TRUE that due to the fact that Prepster, Gonzo,NCBBall & DodgerBlues have made such large contributions to the new SabreDome that they are now entitled to "all you can eat "sunflower seeds from the concession stand?
Just want to be sure I know who to issue the seeds to at no charge when I am working. Please advise.
p.s. They will all be SO HAPPY when they hear the new sound system their contributions have allowed the SabreDome to purchase. The Dome is Rockin!

I was able to make a donation in lieu of payment. Braves seemed to think the 6'2", 230 lb Freshman with 6.6 60 yd speed was a fair trade......I really got one on HIM!!!!!
Well, let me say it was interesting riding on the boat today
In the midst of going to the game, one could tell it was not going to be a good day to play. People were depressed and complaining about the weather and the mood was getting dark .
Leave it to Prepster to shake the MP crowd out of their funk. While Capt. Gonzo was negotiating the white caps, Prepster broke out in song :guitar: ~~Row, row, row your boat...gently down the stream...merrily, merrily merrily merrily... ~~ next thing you know, there were 24 people crammed into the front of the boat singing along with prep
Leave it to the master to ensure people are focusing on what's important in life...and the man can sing too..multitalented

We are open to the highest bidder - which conference wants it more???????
Our current offer: 1 sophomore from each SW4A school (distribution to Meca8 teams to be determined by ME) + free rental on the BagDome next fall for football practice. (Those spikes should knock that field out of the top ten easily by the end of football season).

hay that fields not top 10 its #1 in the state. add more seats and souths where the state playoffs would be held. plus i dont think a backhoe could distroy the beauty of that field. its been through bird atacks, drought, vadalisim, and floods that would make noas ark look like it was floating in a puddle. as the song goes God blessed texas, well i think he had a little left over and gave it to south.

well being of a more "gentle " nature than some of your food critics I can only say that ONCE....YES ....ONCE in the past 10 years have I found a concession stand where I would eat the food (as you gentlemen so describe the stuff that comes across the counter).
It was the year 2000 , before the dome was put on, it was the summer and an ON DECK team ran the concession stand. Talk about SOME FOOD. It was home cooked spaghetti, lasagna, pork chops, chicken...and lots of veggies. Something different every week. That was something to look forward to as the sun set, the lights came on , and the summer breeze blew! It was AWESOME. It was like eating dinner at a big family reunion every game.
I just can not get excited about putting something in my mouth that has been flooting in water that has gelled globs of goop floting in it. Sorry. I know you gentlemen call them hot dogs BUT....YUCK! THEN....when someone asks for that nasty hot ,yellow / orange stuff that looks like melted plastic to be put on top...... I just can not fathom it. I'd rather pull the 3rd shift at the SouthDome keeping the ducks off the field and entertaining the ompha loompas than be subjected to the concession stand.
In all fairness I am not as well traveled as some so I WILL have to check out the Easter Tournament where the BBQ is supposed to be grand. Until that time.....I'll just sip my herbal tea from a styerfoam cup and pretend I am not hungry.
