Freshman Robert Proffitt, Catcher is playing for the varsity at North Meck. He has caught a lot of innings. In the early games, they DH'ed for him. Against Butler, he was hitting in the lineup and had a sacrifice bunt down the 1B line and hit a sharp single down the 3B line.
He's been playing a lot and playing well.

NCBBall: I got to see Proffit last Friday and he did a good job against Butler. I saw him throw out a runner at third but how good is his arm to second?

He's still developing his arm. I'm expecting it go get a little stronger every year. He's got so much peach fuzz on his face, he looks like he's 9 years old......
I'm wouldn't worry about that until he matures. He's going to get faster.

iN THE EAST I HAVE TO GO WITH BROC SUTTON. HE IS A RIGHT HANDED PITCHER, SHORTSTOP, AND BATS LEFT. GREAT ATHLETE AND VERY MATURE KID. PLAYS FOR EDENTON HOLMES, I REALLY BELIEVE YOU WILL HEAR MORE ABOUT THIS GUY IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS.

Aces... does Brock play JV or Varsity?
Josh Thrailkill is emerging as one of the top 06 pitchers in western
NC. He is 4-0 (thru 3/20) for TC Roberson's varsity and reports have him already hitting 84 mph. An interesting player to watch over the next few years !

Depends on the pitcher. If you have a guy on the mound who holds runners well, he does fine ... has thrown out 3. If they can get good jumps and the pitcher has a long unload time, he doesn't have the arm to make it up. He needs a pitcher that can help him .. unload time between 1.1 - 1.3, longer than that and they've got the base.
Addison Johnson at North Forsyth! Quality LHP. Won his first start on varsity. If i recall right he had 9 k's in that win. Super nice kid also!

Who was he facing? That's great news for a Freshman out of the gate.

An 06'er worth watching is Zack Pou. He's 5 for 10 at the plate and has drove in at least 2 runs. He's a big kid and is another peach fuzz face still growing. I think we will see some good play out of this young man in the future.

Wade Moore at West Rowan is having a good year so far and will certainly have an impact in the future.

BBaller44: Zack has hit the ball well for North Meck's JV and has play center very well also. He hits the ball hard, he almost hit one out dead center at NM in the first game, had to be 400 feet. he also hit one off the fence against Vance to left feild only the heavy air and wind kept it in. Zack, Greg Allen, Daniel Whitmire and McAuley are all starting to hit the ball well and are only going to get better.
North Forsyth over Parkland 10-0
Addison Johnson threw a no-hitter tonight!
There is an 06 that started last night in the Mt. Pleasent - NW Cabarrus match-up behind the plate for Northwest. Jerod Faggart, had two hits in a conference game at AL Brown with 3 RBIs and also had a double against Patrick Adams at West Rowan on Tuesday. Grounded out and K'd last night vs Benton, but is an extreme talent, also hit an oppo homerun in a scrimmage at the beginning of the year. As rumor and record have it, the freshman class at Northwest is strong from top to bottom this year.

I remember Jerod ... didn't know he was a freshman. He's a good ball-player, that's for sure.

I feel our whole JV squad at North will be worth watching, if you are looking for freshman. I'm a freshman myself, I get fairly low playing time though because of the struggle of having Big Mac a sophmore in front of me but when he pitches I get the start and get to show my capabilities. Just wait until next year when I get to start almost every game. There is fire in my eyes and almost every freshmans' eyes for that starting position on the varsity level. You will find that we are going to be the ones to watch now and for the years to come.

What about the Ogle kid at Mooresville. I hear he has a batting average of right at .500 in conference games. He is on the Varsity and starts at short and second. OBTW he is a freshman

I'd say that Justin Ogle is definately a freshman to watch. In fact, I think that any freshman that can make a positive impact on a varsity squad is worth keeping an eye on.
Jerrod had another solid night at the plate against Lake Norman, hitting a 3 run HR oppo
Jerod has continued to produce on the varsity squad at NWC, in the last two games he has 3 hits including a triple and another 3 run oppo HR, a freshman stepping up in conference play is impressive, the coaching staff over there must be excited!
The Oogle kid from Mooresville is very impressive, had 2 hits last night, I believe, agains Dalton. What a ballplayer
