Two slices 412 grain bread, lightly toasted.
Firm yet ripe tomato, acidic yet sweet.
Dukes mayo.
Pepper on mayo
Salt on tomato til it's visually bumpy.
Tomato slices should be directly proportional to bread thickness.
OMG, I love mater sammiches! :D
and you wonder why you cant lose weight?

I use Kraft. OK, I said it. I've been wanting to get that off my chest for a long time now. I'm outta the closet.

I wonder how much worse it is to use light anything rather than just a little of the real thing.... seems cheese, chips and all that low fat stuff has something that has to be like plastic in it to make it work.
anybody ever seen the dirty ass looking perverts that work in a mayo factory?

No, but it's bothering me you know about this.....
How could it be any worse than a peanut butter factory or a tofu factory for that matter?

Okay - now I know what I'm gonna make for my lunch today - thanks Plu! :liplick: I use Hellman's Mayo - thick, rich, full, creamy - I was going to make a comment about asshole mayonaise - but it's too early here. :)

hmmm.... idea for this summer....
You guys just don't realize... I live off of 'mater sammiches virtually all summer and then I can jars and jars and jars of 'em too.... I just opened a jar about a month or so ago and made a chili with it - when I opened it - it smelled like I was cutting into a fresh tomato out of the garden.... mmmmmmmmm....... 'mater sammiches - I can't wait!

They do sell little plastic containers of the stuff now. You think they don't ship it to grocery stores in the back of semi trucks in the summer? Ever been in the back of one of those trucks? It's hot. HOT I tell ya.

Lovey - wait until I come over - the cost of sending over a jar of anything will knock you sideways! (I'm not saying `no' too strongly though because I'm a mayo bitch at heart - I put it on everything :D ) You rule lovey - :)
Farmer - I grow my own tomatoes too and I'm usually swamped halfway through the season. I've have yet to find a good preserving recipe. You wanna share? And Plu - I do the same with my herbs too - matter of fact, past weekend I just redid my whole garden :D.

I do believe Best Foods owns Hellman's mayo, so it depends on where you live which you have available. I think I saw that on the back of my hellman's jar...one second, I'm going to check...yep, same company. :)

I dont eat that shit so they can let it sit in the back of a hot truck for as long as they want.

I'm sure there are stories for every food factory. I heard some really horrible ones about pickle factories when I was in college :barf:

that's why they say men jack off in the mayo and rats get in the peanut butter ( which I believe ). What about ketchup factories, you think ppl cut themselves and bleed in it, or quacamole factories, you think they bring baby shoo shoo in and mix it in? I find all of it hard to believe, except for the rats in the peanuts.

I'm not sure if you're saying that you don't believe me, pluto, and if you're not then just ignore me :), but my friend used to work in one in high school, and the urine in the pickles is definitely a true story, at least at the plant he used to work in.

Don't be sorry :), and I wish it weren't true. I just didn't want you to think it was one of those a friend of a friend of a friend told me.....(though I'm sure that's what you were hoping for :) ) At any rate, I still eat pickles after all that. Think about how many foods you couldn't eat if you avoided them based on stories--true or made up. Hmmm...forget Atkins, I may be on to something there...:D

I think on one occassion we got the `Hellman's' labelled ones - so that's where I got it from. :) Cheers for checking! Thanks Farmer - I love preserving recipes...especially when I'm growing the stuff and it's going to waste. I love preserving - it brings out the nesting thing in me. :)

Oddly, I don't find this as upsetting as I should. Though, I'm hoping that the pickling spice is indeed pickling spice and not wee gallstones. :worried:

I know you are really saying I'm fat now, it's ok really, really it is.
And he won't if he uses whole wheat bread.:)
pluto you start all the threads you want especially about mater sammiches.
You can go start one in MY forum. I got your back.
Your recipe was perfect except you need white bread - not toasted. The maters are best if they are still warm from the sun.
And if its not so sloppy that you have to stand at the sink to eat it you did something wrong.
