West Stanly defeated Monroe on Monday, 15-0 in just 2 1/2 innings. Jill Dry was winning pitcher, srtiking out 9 of the 10 batters she faced.

West Stanly traveled to Forest Hills yesterday for a big game in the RRC2A. West won 2-1 in 8 innings. An under the weather, Keri Blackwelder was the winning pitcher. She gave up 6 hits and struck out 7. The Forest Hills run was unearned.

Who is likely to finish second behind you in the conference, Forest Hills or North Stanly. They seem to have been your toughest conference opponents. Do you know whether they have played each other yet?

Sorry for long delay in my reply....been away from the computer for a couple of days....as to our strongest competition in the RRC2A, I would say Forest Hills. Don't count out Charlotte Catholic, they beat North last week. We haven't played CC as of yet...should be fun in Oakboro next Tuesday at 7:00.

West Stanly defeated Charlotte Catholic tonite 10-0 in 6 innings. We had one of our best offensive nights, the team had 14 hits. Keri Blackwelder was dominate again on the mound. She struck out 9 and allowed only one hit. Our seniors are playing great and their leadership is coming through on the field. Jill Dry went 4 for 4 at the plate and Amber Stroupe was 3 for 4 (3 doubles), with 4 RBi's. Our overall record is now 13-3 and we are 8-0 in conference play. We play at Mount Pleasant on Thursday night.

Keri Blackwelder has signed her letter on intent to play for Belmont Abbey. We, at West Stanly, are very happy for Keri. We know she is a quality player and will make a tremendous impact on their program. Belmont abbey is getting a top-notch player. Congratulations, Keri!!!!!!!!!

Like Old CF says, CVAC is a great fit for our players.
Its a good place to play competitive ball at the college level.
With Longwood moving to D1, and so many Charlotte Metro area girls in the conference . Maybe they need to change the name to Charlottes Veryown Athletic Confrence. :D :D

dawgfan, CVAC has got to change it to something else, unless they can find another D2 Virginia team real soon. But I personally like your new name better and leave VA out of the mix, if we can't have Longwood.......what a good program thats developing real quick and wish them the best in D1. That conference will be a true race in 2004, with Anderson and Coker being the front-runners, dont you think? BAC will be a young talented group, with several local players, as is Pfeiffer, so lets enjoy the other young ones competing now....;) that how a goal of playing collegiate softball! Thanks dawgfan for your insight and the work you and your area do for NC Softball! See you sooooon at other tournament and good luck to your teams this year!!!!

West Stanly defeated North Stanly tonite 1-0. Jill Dry started on the mound for the Lady Colts pitching 2 innings. She faced 7 batters striking out 4 and giving up one hit. Dry was hitting the bottom of the second and foul ball off her bat and hit her under the eye and she had to leave the game. Blackwelder came in to pitch in the bottom of the third. In her 5 innings, she struck out 12, gave up 2 bunt singles and 1 walk (only her 3rd of the season). Leading hitters were Amber Stroupe 2-3, Brittany Love 1-2, Alice Smith 1-2 (RBI) and Keri Blackwelder 1-3.

West Stanly defeated Forest Hills tonight 4-1 in the championship game of the Rocky River conference tournament. Way to go ladies!!!!;) We will play our first game of the state playoffs on Wednesday at home at 5:30. We moved the game up because our seniors graduate on Friday night.
