Here we are at the end of April and we're not long from getting the pads back on so I thought we would start a best of thread. We will change the best of every so often so be sure to check it out.
So let us get started with a history.
Which schools have the deepest traditions, the greatest history, those ghost of the pasts that still have everyone talking? And don't just give us a name of a school, anybody could do that, tell us why. Give us a history lesson.:D

I'll start with Cherryville Ironmen. They had that winning season. You know back in '78 or '77.
Seriously and it will probably anger some of my fellow Crest supporters but I'll say Shelby. Few can touch them in terms of tradition. This is a school that has had like 5 or 6 coaches in its entire history. They have winning records against virtually everybody in the area and championships from what seems like the begginning of time. The growth of Crest as a power shows just how far Shelby has fallen with Crest kicking them down further and further.

I like when I'm right. Hopefully Shelby will stay away from Hickory for the next couple of years and keep me right. I would like to see Shelby's record against teams like Kings Mountain, East Rutherford formerly Forest City, Ashbrook formerly Gastonia, and Gaffney.

411-2. At least according to my excel model and that video game super play action football. In reality 0-2.

I'll throw one out there that I really don't know much about. Anyone remember the great Ashbrook teams of the early 80's with QB Jesse James running the show? Seems like I remember an article about them in the Charlotte paper with James and either his receivers or linemen dressed up in the Western garb.... Sort of ironic that they had a gunslinging QB named Jesse James, but those teams were pretty good, IIRC.
Anyone from Ashbrook remember these guys?
