Ok, i've downloaded shit loads of music from Napster, Bearshare, and Morpheus.
I also had installed Real Player and all the music files were converted to that format...whatever that is. Is that a good thing?
And if I'm e-mailing music, how do i make the file smaller?
How do I even convert the music to MP3 format?
I just want to make sure that i do this right and figured i could just get quick answers instead of readings tons of gobbedly gook.

What are you planning on doing with the MP3's? As long as all you are doing is listening to them on the computer, the format doesn't matter. They're still mp3 files, no matter whether realplayer, media player, winamp, whatever plays them.
If you want to burn them onto a CD that's different. Let me know what you want to do with them and I'll tell you how to fix em. :)
There's really no way to make mp3's smaller. They're about as compressed as they get in that format.

I had tried to e-mail QCH 12 music files this weekend and outlook just pooh-poohed the idea.
I'm just trying to organize all my music files and put them in one folder.
I have both Windows Media and Real One Player, but are both really necessary to have?

That ain't gonna work. The average size of an mp3 is 3 megs - if you want to transfer him the file, you can do it through AOL instant messenger or ICQ, but I'd recommend just telling him the names of the songs and letting him download them from Kazaa. Much faster for both of you

That's easy, just go to the folder they're in, click the top one, press the shift key, click the last one - they should all be highlighted, now right click and drag and drop em in the folder you want

I would keep them both - some internet sites require one or the other in order for you to play their files. Just specify which one you want to play the files. I use Winamp for music, and Media Player for video.

Acutally it depends. Some mail servers only allow a certain amount to be transferred at a time.
The best thing to do is probably Zip up the 12 mp3's using winzip and sending it through AOL Instant Messenger. If you two have dsl or cable, that shouldn't take long at all....
Winamp plays anything music. Just use that.
