Congrats RS... remember who sponsered you... lol...

Anyways on the DH... its a double edged sword... if it were possible I'd prefer NO DH and force the pitchers to hit, but I also have noticed that its helped to prolong a lot of players careers... those that don't have the speed to continue to play in the field... Dave Winfield for example... if there were no DH he wouldn't have his last 2 WS Rings... but regardless of which way they choose I wish they'd get both leagues on one page and either have both AL and NL using DH or both playing without it.

Now about that DH...I'm a national league gal all the way. I think the DH is a pussy rule. Pitchers should stand at the plate just like everybody else. With that in mind, a managers job becomes much more challenging, and valuable...making the decision of whether to bring in a PH for a pitcher in the later innings can make all the difference in a game.

If yall AL'ers want the DH then great...but keep it over there. What I want to know is, how did the two leagues end up with two different sets of rules? That doesn't happen in any other sport.

Tony Cloninger from Lincolnton would have thought it was a pussy rule too.
Cloninger was the first National League player to hit two grand slam home runs in a single game, accomplishing the feat on July 3, 1966. He also was the winning pitcher in the game.
;)

;) back in the day when players were REAL men... they'd hit a guy and give up a walk because he looked at them funny... ah... the classics... I wish I'd have grown up during the era

That's an athlete right there! None of that "oh I'm too fragile to swing a bat, I have to go sit on the bench with my jacket on" crap.

You ought to have had the pleasure of seeing Tony hit a softball later in life when he played for Howards Furniture.

There were some very good hitting pitchers through the years Babe Ruth being one of them.;)

how come most often going through bronco, pony, all throughout basbeall's early years, the pitchers are the best hitters, and when they reach the miniors, they can't hit worth a shit?

Probably because once they get up there all the coaches tell them to forget about hitting and concentrate on pitching, and they just get behind. Hitting a 70mph pitch(in the lower leagues) and a 95mph pitch in the big leagues are two totally different things.

we had YMCA sponsored teams--Little League and then Pony 12 to 14 (I think) and then Colt 14 to 16 and then American Legion.
I might not have the ages right but they probably close. :)
It's been awhile.
