Clapton

As good as everybody thinks Eric Clapton is, I still think he's under-rated.

Prince. Dammit, beat me too it. But he is an excellent musician, a virtuoso.

Jeff Beck - Probably the least celebrated of all the 60s guitar players

Grateful Dead - Behind all the mistique, these guys were good songwriters. Sometimes the drugs got in the way of the band, but Weir, Lesh and Jerry knew how to play.

Velvet Underground - Bob Dylan meets the MC5.

King Crimson - The one prog band with both chops and a rocking edge.

Talking Heads - Byrne is cool

Sun Ra - The most underrated yet influenicial, and perhaps contraversial jazz man ever.

Frank Zappa - Style and a sense of humor

And of course Phish, who IMO are a wonderful blend of all the above bands.

Never got to see him play, but I've seen his sideman, Michael Ray, plenty, and he's carrying on the tradition.

I remember a years ago when somebody said "They listened to Beck" they meant "Jeff Beck".

I thought that was Gil-Scott Heron. Whitey's on the moon.

Did I mention I'm a total honkey?

I forgot his ass. Sorry Frank.

I'm sure Frank's happy Tipper and Al are history. Frank publicly referred to Tipper as a 'domestic terrorist', and Al publicly and patronizingly chastised Frank for naming his kids Dweezil and Moon.

I had a dumbass friend who named his dog Zappa, and has a Zappa for president sticker right next to his Gore Lieberman sticker.

OK I'm done. :dunce:
