This weekend is the much anticipated series between the Cubs and the Yankees.

Despite the distraction of Sosa's corked bat, I'm going out on a limb and predicting that the Cubs win 2 out of 3.

As long as one of those Cubs wins is against the Rocket that'll be just fine.

Think major league baseball will let Sosa sit through this series? If so I have some swampland I'd like to sell you

Roger Clemens is out after giving up a single to Sosa and a walk to Alou. He's replaced by Juan Acevedo who gives up a three run homer to Eric Karros.

I guess the Rocket won't win his 300 in Wrigley. :D

Cubs will probably get more respect now that they took 2 of 3 against the Yanks, even though the Yanks are NOT what they were a few years ago.

can you please explain this? yes, they aren't playing as well as in recent years. but to say they don't have the team they had, well thats a bit much. in almost every position they have bought one of the top players in the game. they have 6 pitchers that could be a #1 guy on several teams. lets give them credit for winning when they do, but give them credit for WAY WAY underachieving when they do that also.

i simply think, yes they have the best team in baseball this year, they just are not winning. and for that i am a happy happy man.

this is no way reflects my opinion of steinbrenner, this was too pg-rated for that

One word justifies my opinion...

Yes, you still have Clemens, Mussina, Wells, and others starting, but your bullpen is killing you at the same time. Yes, Mariano Rivera is still one of the top 3 closers in Baseball, but I remember the set-up men like Stanton, Nelson, and Mendoza. Those guys preserved the lead for Rivera, and thats the difference between the late 90's and today's team.

Now on the field, Soriano, Jeter, Giambi and maybe Posada are your top tier players. But what about the guys like Mondesi and Ventura? These two are definintely not top tier players at their position. Matsui (sp?), even though he's good, I can't consider him as a top tier player playing in his first season.

2.88, 2.63, 2.51, 1.90.......yeah, those #'s in the pen will kill ya there....
anyways, all i was saying, is that just because they're not dominating this year as in years past doesn't mean they don't have as good of a team. if we're gonna give them credit for winning year in year out with that high payroll. then lets give them credit for UNDERACHIEVING with the high payroll. don't just say "they're NOT what they were in years past". they are still the george steinbrenner "go out and buy a ring" yankees of years past. just not getting the job done this year.

go red sox!
