Just wanting to see what made you love the greatest team in sports. I lived in the West Roxbury neighborhood in Boston til I was 6, then moved to Nashua, NH where I lived til I was 15. Fenway is a must see before they tear it down.

getting to see a 2 games at fenway. 1 at age 12, 1 at age 14......i would have to say the stadium did it for me. that place just has a special feel about it.
orrr, maybe i'm just a glutton for punishment and that is what pulled me in...:D

Hate to say it now but it was Roger Clemens who got me so hooked on the Red Sox. We caught a few of his 16K games but missed out on 20K. Now I couldn't care less about him or his 300 victories.
CharPirate is right too, Fenway just had a special feel to it. Used to go almost once a week when their was a game there.

How about the expolsion last Friday night? REminded me of when Greg Swindell made his debut against Clemens in 1986, Swindell was from Texas also. We scored 24 runs that night.

As a Yankees fan I would love to get to a game at Fenway before it gets taken down, but I have a strong dislike for Boston sports fans. The main reason is that they for no reason must yell out Yankees suck whenever they see or hear anything about the Yankees.
Prime example: Patriots versus Jets at Giant Stadium this past September...Jets are getting pounded and some Patriot fans decide to start the Yankees suck chant, while they are 10 game behind them in the AL East race and one of these fools happens ot have on a Curtis Martin Patriots jersey...bottom line is there was no need for that, it was the only time ever I have wanted to get in a fight to get thrown out of a stadium in my life, but the season tickets are too important to me.
That put my hatred over the top, but I am not like that and neither are the Yankee fans I associate with, even though I'm sure we both have ignorant fans.
Even with my hatred of the Red Sox, I still think Varitek got screwed.

I am one of the few Boston born diehards who hates all other AL teams equally. Fans drive me nuts doing that also 2002. It's alright if we're actually playing the Yankees, but the line around the block for single game tickets in mid-January will actually start chanting that.
I've made four trips to Fenway in my life, the last being in 1991. I highly recommend you make the trip. You'll be safe wearing Yankee stuff, unless you sit in the bleachers, then you're on your own.

You are on your own there no matter what you wear. If you are taking a kid to the game - do NOT sit in the bleachers.

My dad couldn't find anybody to go with him to Fenway in August 1976, so he took my mother who was 7 months pregnant with me. She had many a brew spilled on her, which explains why I am so fucked up.

i went with a church group both times i saw them, and we were in the bleachers....our pastor explaining to the parents that didn't go with us to the game why we all smelled like beer was classic.:D

One time when I sat up there, these guys pulled an absolute classic. Instead of the beach ball to knock around the stands, they brought a blowup doll. That doll got violated in more ways than I would have though possible as she was getting knocked around. All to loud cheers of approval by everyone in the bleachers of course :D

As a yankees fan you should be tarred and feathered if you go anywhere near fenway.

Stop...we shouldn't even let these Bostonians with their messed up accents even into our State, but we do and we even let them into our stadium so they can witness their games behind increase in the AL East race in person.
Keep telling me the Yankees suck and Jeter swallows from 2nd place, because that is where you will always be.

Trust me NJ is a temporary residence, I'm from NY and still have a NY licence. I just can't claim New Jersey...Kind of like the Jets and Giants.

Nice job getting thrown from the game while throwing a three hitter Weaver. Thanks!!! I guess every game this weekend will now be close. Johnny Damon just hit that homer while I am typing, time to break out the Johnnie Walker Black.:D

6-3 now. The REd Sox are slugging .500 as team, which no team has done in baseball over a full season. Wonder if they can keep it up.

that game was HUGE. kim tried to give it back tho. isn't that deal with the dbacks almost worn out? surely this was a trial offer trade?

I'll give Jeff Suppan this: he gave major props to the Sox offense.

No - I am not kidding. Hillenbrand is adequate defensively - at best. And I was listening to the NESN broadcast when it was free - and Pesky was saying that Millar has become the team's leader - so he needs to play. Mueller is having a monster season. And don't forget about Ortiz. I'll go look up the stats for all of them at work tomorrow.

well my original intent was to once again state my dislike of kim and the trade. but i'd take hillenbrand over millar on the one bag anyday.
