Wouldn't it be funny if Miami says no tomorrow,a nd the ACC gets just a team that they really weren't wanting in the first place!

I don't think it would hurt the ACC at all jsut to gain VT this year. They come on board and make a positive contribution then in a few years time maybe a Miami and/ or Cuse comes too. What's the hurry?

the deal is to increase tv revenue that is what bc and syracuse were all about. VT is hardly gonna do that in fact it delutes the gene pool a little.

I'm not sure if they could have a football championship with 10. That's where, I assumed, money would be made. VT's quality, and a good addition, so on its own it's a wonderful addition. Having Beamer's teams in the ACC every year makes me want to watch that conference more. But VoR's right in that they're screwed if this is all they get moneywise.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of those Virginia politicians who took time from their usual schedule of doing really important things to insure that Va Tech would be successful in their quest to act like a whore chasing the cash.

Of course it was a threat. $$$ talks. It's kinda hard to run a state university if the state fucks you over in the budget.

Another article on espn.com mentions another likely scenario. With 11 members, the number needed to vote for future expansion would probably be 8. With only two teams against it (Now that UVA is happy) it may just be next summer before BC and SU are back on the block.
