WHO CARES, its gonna be half the yankees and half the braves anyway, thats how it is every year, thats why baseball sucks most times. its funny how the braves have all these allstars but haven't won it in a long time. i dont see them winning this year either.
just for the record it would be retarded if Furcal got to go.

SS is pretty lean this year in the NL. Renteria IMO is the obvious starter. Of my Brave and Yankee choices who could you replace them with legitamately? Best teams generally have the best players and those go to the ALL Star game

i don't have time for a list right now, maybe later? but PP, why no Sheffied in the outfield. Jones and Abreu over Sheff? I think he's in the MVP running and a surefire all-star.

Yeah that name slipped my mind. Lets go Bonds, Sheffield, and Pujous <MVP

not understanding this. the guy is having a pretty good year, and got off to a great start...but now is at .287, 8hr, 36rbi, and 47 runs, .363 obp. why is everyone forgetting about Vidro? .328, 8hr, 38 rbi, 43 runs, .418 obp...along with a better fielding percentage than giles. what about Castillo and Durham? Durham was on the DL early in the year, but has been very consistent and the Giants are a much better club with him in the lineup and he is hitting 34 points higher, the OBP is 50 points higher, and his defense is much improved this year.

i just can't see the rollins over furcal point. since when did salary come into all-star selection?

franchise, law1ing.....i agree with both of and i'm a braves fan. giles had a great start to the season, but has slowed down of lately. i think vidro is the best 2b in the league, and should get the nod. i don't think giles should be there, altho i'd like to see it for the guy.

salary is irelevant, i brought it in there for my reason, rollins makes a hell of alot less and works a hell of alot harder IMO.

sorry your point is invalid. reason is, the braves are 5 hours from me, the tarheels, an hour, in the same state. college basketball is bigger here anyways. and the tarheels take one channel. on a given night, i can find the braves on TBS, ESPN, and some shitty upper channel. Its fuckin baseball, and its not even the world series.

Franchise I feel your pain as far as Braves. If they had been like the Cowboys it would be easy to hate them. But I have liked watching them especially Smoltz and Maddux. Bobby Cox on the other hand is vastly over rated IMO

Braves are overrated. When bud selig realizes that the NFL is kickin' baseballs ass on viewers and rank of sport, maby baseball will be good again. Share the wealth like football, and it makes it even, the same teams are always in the playoffs, and the same teams always wins, b/c of the money issue. Braves just happened to have a lot of money, so they get lucky. That to me is bullshit, and not even fun to watch. Its like Bobby Cox and Ted Turner are playing their own shitty video game where they can trade for whoever they want and pickup whoever they want to develop the best team ever. If you think about it, all the braves in one way or another in the starting lineup, could make the all star team.
Just fuckin hate the bravHOES, and the yanks

andruw, chipper, furcal, giles, lopez.....5 outta the starting 8 from the braves farm system.....pitching staff.....ramirez, smoltz, king, hodges, others i'm sure i'm missing. up until this year, glavine and millwood.
buying talent? yes, but still the best farm team in the bigs in the last decade+. so, you're buying talent doesn't work with me. next idea?
now the yankees fit your point well. jeter and bernie, after that pretty much everything is bought. i, like you, would love to see a salary cap in baseball. i'm wondering whats taken this long and why its not there already
Franchise
07-02-03, 10:35 PM
bullshit dude, cmon, mont. can't afford the braves salary, that 2 me is buying talent.
on disrespect 2 u btw, the braves just piss me off.
anywho, salary cap+baseball=fun to watch again. baseball sux to watch on tv b/c its so lopsided and boring. bud selig is too stupid too see that the NFL is kickin' MLB's ass.

hey man, none taken. i'm just pointing out that more than half these guys on their roster were drafted by the braves. last time i checked, other than the top few picks, theres no big bucks there. don't blame it on the braves if their draft picks turn out to be great ballplayers and deserve the money. you take all the players in the bigs these days, and put them back with the team that drafted them, and the braves would roll over anyone.

char,
Castilla got some time with the braves (not much) in the early 90's before the expansion draft.
i think of smoltz as more home grown than not. he was quite young when they picked him up and did most of the work developing him.
Plus just look at all the talent the braves farm system has let go to other teams...I really don't have time to look them all up, but there are a ton of guys that came up with Atlanta who are now contributing to other teams.

The Dodgers are known for their farm teams contributing, they didn't get the nickname, farm team for MLB for nothing.
