... thinks the winner of the all star game gets home field in the World Series sucks? talk about rendering the regular seasopn meaningless! What if (and this is an if) the Mariners win 120 games, make it to the series, and a WC team in the NL has home field because the NL wins the all star game? That would absolutely suck. no reward for a great regular season, and that's what baseball has ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT! I don't like it, but at least now we won't have anymore tie games!

Bud Selig has been making horses ass decisions for years. It's no suprise shit like this goes on in the majors.

Why can't the team with best record getting home field? Then if they are tied best record in playoffs? Do you really want a game where a Devil Ray, Royal, Met or Tiger HAVE to be there deside the home field for the world series?

i still think its better than the way it was, alternating back and forth. how does this make the regular season any more worthless than the alternating?? i would say playing all season to make it as 1 of those 8 teams out of 30 into the playoffs is not a worthless thing. that being said tho, if they want to get it right then they definitely need to give home-field to the team with the best record. not sure why this isn't already done.

Clarify something for me.......Please.

I'm a Reds fan, so while I still watch the World Series, I've haven't had a PASSIONATE interest in it since 1990.

Here's where the clarification is needed........If I remember correctly, home field simply rotated between the AL & NL each season. At least that's how I remember it in the early 90's.

My point is .......this new method is no better or worse than alternating leagues each season. The NHL actually appears to get it right in that the highest seed gets home ice.

Given the leadership of Mr. Selig :sarcastic, I have trouble believing that this was his idea. IMO it was an idea that Fox shoved down MLB's throats.

I think it's a pretty crappy arrangement. The all-star game is supposed to be fun, and now it's just gonna be retarded. I liked the way they had everybody (or close to) getting in some playing time.

you are correct uncc.....it has alternated between the two leagues since 1903.....i actually like the all-star idea better than alternating.

also, i'm with you. give selig a break guys. he means well.

This would be the best possible solution.

I still think thats unfair, just do it like America's sport "football" and pick a stadium before hand. Course if it was far away from both teams, it may not sell out....selig must give good head to someone to be able to still be in there what a fuckin joke.

football can do that only because there is just one game. People will travel to watch their team play for a weekend, but in a best of 7 series, it's just insanly expensive (not that the SB is cheap anyway)...

But I do kind of like how the Super Bowl gives home field advantage (ok, the dark jerseys) to the conferance that won the previous year.

Not only that, but now the uniforms for each league are, um, uniform. Navy blue and grey (I believe). No more Cincinatti red or Oakland green or Montreal blue.

Each player sporting his own teams threads. That was great, now thats gone.

They changed their minds and aren't going to do that this year, thank god. But they're shooting for next year. :(

I haven't watched the all-star game since Dave Parker through a guy out from right field. when was that, '79? 80? With that said, Selig needs to quit trying to "improve" it. It is what it is.

damn, and i was starting to like those hideously ugly jerseys they'd been wearing. on a side note, i say make the phillies reps wear the blue throwbacks. those were the best.

contrairy to solarte's view its about time they started to play for something. I mean this is the best the league has to offer( or pay for the most votes) and i have never seen more boched plays on a playing field since the pro bowl. I am not saying that having them play for home field advantage will change things but atleast we might actually see some good play.
