Can someone tell me how to resize a pic to use as an avatar? Can I use MS photoeditor?

Is there no simple way to resize pics without having to buy or download new software?

IrFanView is free. I really don't know what's out there. I just got it at the suggestion of the board 'help'.

MS photo editor does have a resize option (off the Image tab). You may have play around to get it small enough to use.

i use paint, look for a skew and stretch, just make sure you save it and change the name slightly . if you don't save it as some thing else it will screw up what you just did.

Brad, open up paint, load picture. on the top of the paint window will be a tab for "image" click this tab, and a drop down window will appear. click on the stretch/skew option. You can then enter a percentage to decrease (or increase) the image. I suggest saving with a different name to preserve the original image.
And I access paint through start up & accessories...yes?
Thanx for the time & patience Needa...

paint comes as standard part of windows, and is accessible via start, programs, accessories
Ok I got all that down pat... now how do I copy & paste a photo into THAT window so I can down size it & fix my avatar...I got some fotos that I wanna down size on another site...if that makes it any easier...
I try the regular way & nothing happens I get the feeling this program is jerking my chain...either that OR I am a total ignoramus...I just am not the pc op I thought I was...lol.

I recommend just saving the photos to your PC, and then open then up using paint. then follow the steps above to manipulate the size.
