View Full Version : how good will auburn be this year?
i mean, really...
they are getting a ton of hype.
I'm taking them against USC opening week.
I admit I'm still skeptical of their ability to throw a forward pass. You have to wonder how long they can get away with run, run, run. But if they find a bit of a passing game? Sure. I can see a very good season.
tubbs will coach them to a couple of losses as asual
Western Champs at least. I'll give em one loss in the SEC before the CG.
any times listed would be ET, from www.auburntigers.com
WIN vs Southern California - Aug. 30 6 pm CBS NATIONAL GAME
WIN at Georgia Tech - Sept. 6 3:30 pm - Grant Field, Atlanta, GA
WIN at Vanderbilt - Sept. 13 TBA - Nashville, TN
WIN vs Western Kentucky - Sept. 27 TBA
WIN vs Tennessee - Oct. 4 TBA this could be a thursday night special
WIN @ Arkansas - Oct. 11 TBA - Fayetteville, AR
WIN vs Mississippi State - Oct. 18 TBA
LOSS @ LSU - Oct. 25 TBA - Baton Rouge, LA this has night game written all over it
WIN vs Louisiana Monroe - Nov. 1 Homecoming - TBA
WIN vs Ole Miss - Nov. 8 TBA
LOSS at Georgia - Nov. 15 TBA - Athens, GA
LOSS vs Alabama - Nov. 22 TBA
The way I see it, 9-3 and a minor bowl. Tubby could screw up somewhere else, like Tennessee or even Arkansas.
da man, why do you see a loss vs Alabama? revenge factor?

Thats a tough schedule and they aren't good enough to go undefeated against those teams. Auburn is really talented but won't make it through that schedule...
I like Oklahoma because they should handle Bama and UCLA early and roll till they get to Texas. I think Oklahoma will win that one (being played in Dallas) and beat anyone in the Big 12 title game too.
Probably need to win 2 to 3 tough games to win the national championship.

they say their new juco rb will be the best rb on the team the minute he steps on campus. he's like 6'4" 255 and runs a 4.4 40, he's a beast basically.
but like y'all said, sometimes you just need to throw it forwards. sometime during the year, some team will jump out to a lead on them or they are gonna be in a tight game and need to score and won't be able to run run run, and i don't know if jason campbell can win a game with his arm. plus, that sched is brutal. another problem w/auburn is that they have 4 great tailbacks, so what? only 1 of them can run the ball at a time, and there are only so many carries to go around so what's the point?
i think the west will come down to ark, aub, and lsu...with arkansas beating auburn, auburn beating lsu, and lsu beating arkansas. ole miss will sneak up and beat some teams and of course alabama can't be overlooked.

The top 10 team with the easiest schedule has too be Kansas State. They don't play ANYONE but Texas and even though thats on the road they should definately be undefeated going in there. Nebraska sucks so I wouldn't even sweat them.
Only problem is they probaby gotta beat OK in the Big 12 champ game though.

Auburn is loaded but they have major concerns with depth at key positions (namely QB). Campbell is servicable but nothing fancy - there is no one behind him though.
They also have a staunch Defense and a three-headed monster at RB. As much as I'd love to see LSU hand Auburn their first loss of the season, to me that game will depend more on how LSU is doing with injuries at that time than Auburn.
I hope we beat them so I don't have to hear my father scream "War Eagle" for an hour on my voice mail.

No, not revenge, but Tubby will make a bad coaching call somewhere in that game that will cause a loss.
Class of 1989/Still wanted Bowden/Godfather's Pizza on West Magnolia was awesome/Miss the Sani-Freeze/Toomer's Lemonade is the BEST!

I think Ga Tech will surprise someone down the road this year after that QB gets settled, but Auburn should - key word being "should" cause I expect Auburn might be flat - kill them if that QB plays like he did last week. The Tech D can't stay on the field all year or they will get rolled. They let BYU roll them on a drive in the late third QTR cause they had been on the field all night.

uh oh, the swami...
It was awful on Saturday. Like a recurring nightmare every possession after the interception. I turned it off at halftime cause I knew I my bet was toast. Usually I'll give it more than a half, but there was no point.
