The Observer reports that Florida State is talking with Miami and ABC about a three-year deal to play on Labor Day. The first would be on September 6, 2004, the Hurricanes' first in the ACC.

Now that's the way to begin viewing the college football season!

even bigger audience than the usual game date since that's a week before the NFL opens.

makes sense to move it up since one or both are usually in the nat'l title hunt. a loss in september doesn't hurt you nearly as much as a loss in november.

yep. last time they opened the season was when fsu was no. 1, did the rap video and got whacked 31-0.
