Ten things about myself:

1. I really do want to conquer and rule the world - seriously.

2. I was named after some soap opera guy on the Young and The Restless that my mom got all excited about every time she saw him.

3. My family has always had a colorful history - they can be traced all the way back to the 1600s in Germany where we got our family name from printing Bible's and other religious material.

4. More colorful history - my family was torn during the Civil War - between fighting for the North and fighting for the South so they decided to play it safe and sell arms (and services) to both sides.

5. I am not gay.

6. I don't care if you are - specifically I don't want to know what you are fucking be it man, woman, goat, etc.

7. I enjoy any form of art - I also enjoy painting, drawing, etc.

8. I despise any type of rap music - unless it is a parody of rap music.

9. I consider myself to be a liberal conservative/conservative liberal and I am comfortable with my beliefs.

10. I believe in a God - not necessarily the 'southern' God - and am damn sick and tired of everyone trying to 'shove their religion' down my throat.

1. I procrastinate a lot.

2. I was named after my grandfather, I'm a "II." Reverse my middle and first name, that's my dad.

3. My family owned slaves. They were freed by our own will. Their ancestors live up the road from my parents on land that they earned.

4. I like motorcycles. Started riding when I was six.

5. I'm not a picky eater, enjoy most foods and eat a lot.

6. I can't gain weight and get accused of having a tape worm.

7. I met the girl that I want to marry just three months ago. She's a great cook.

8. My biggest idol is also my grandfather. He was a two star general, but I never knew that until I was old enough for other people to tell me. He was just grandpa and had a big garden.

9. I'm the only person in my family who has a great relationship with everyone else.

10. I'm a horrible golfer.

1. Growing up, I was always the smart one and my younger brother, born 15 months after me, was the good-looking one.

2. My middle name was my grandpa’s first name. He had a cool name. Reece Houston S. I thought if I ever had a son, I’d name him Houston.

3. All of my Dad’s family originated from Ireland – County Wicklow - and is from the hills of TN and they are pretty damn backwards and hick and I probably like them more because of it.

4. I think that you can do or build just about anything if you have decent common sense.

5. My dream is to one day own enough land where I can raise most all my own food and produce most everything I need to live without having to work for “the man”

6. While I may not (or may) see it in my lifetime – I believe that America is on a hurdling speed train to becoming third world – I consider this when contemplating my elderly years.

7. I spent eights years as an Army intelligence debriefer and interrogator questioning people that would make the President nervous and sometimes I am still too shy to call my business groups from work. Like LadyJane – I am sometimes seen as aloof or snobbish when really - I am just quiet. But, given time I can be quite open and like nothing more than laughing – ‘cause I am actually pretty goofy.

8. My father is my best friend. He will be 55 next year and I honestly do not know how or if I will be able to carry on with him not in this world – I can’t even think about it.

9. My parents divorced when I was 27 years old! It broke my Dad’s heart and my Mom and I have never really been that close since. It sucks but probably not as bad as it would have if I had been 8 years old.

10. I would rather sit at home and read a magazine on tractors than go on a date with someone. I feel it is never worth my effort.

11. I have lived in 5 different States and 5 different countries all through the Army; I speak three languages and could get by in a few more. I am wise to the ways of the world and different cultures, but would rather stick to the hills of Carolina and mete out my time there ‘til I’m gone.

12. I have many pets, including 3 dogs, 2 cats, some goats (one of which thinks she is a dog.) When I eventually have more land - I will have more animals.

kakia

1. My middle name is the same my mother had before she was married. She dropped her middle name when she got married and passed it to me. I really don’t like my middle name and my mother doesn’t remember ever telling me that story.

2. I am bi-sexual. I was attracted to women way before I became aware of men.

3. I have had over 100 pet cats through the course of my life. I currently have 5 of my own and have been adopted by 2 strays and 1 neighbor's cat.

4. My grandmother has been working on the family tree and claims to have traced her ancestry to Daniel Boone and Thomas Jefferson. I’m still waiting to see the chart.

5. I started going gray when I was 29 unbeknownst to me. A pal noticed it on my 30th birthday and I cried my eyes out.

6. I was placed into a rehab center for 48 hours and although I knew the reason why I was there, I couldn’t help but look at the other people there and think “I don’t belong here with these folks”.

7. My husband has more similar characteristics with my paternal grandfather than my father and I feel guilty about that.

8. I am a kind soul and try to live my life the best I can. Despite that, I feel I’m selfish because I’m focused on my marriage and the future.

9. I love the fall. Fashion is at its best; Driving along scenic highways are breath-taking; and the air seems so much easier to breathe.

10. I’m so in love with my husband that it hurts and I can’t wait to give him the daughter he wants so badly.

11. My first kiss was a peck on the lips of this black kid on the school bus when i was in the first grade. His older sister promised me a pack of Bubble Yum if I did. I never got the gum. I laugh at it now, but i feel like my first kiss was stolen from me since i was too young to understand how special a girl's first kiss should be.

1. I was named after my dad but my middle name was almost Sly after Sly and the Family Stone. I am glad that isn't the case.

2. In my direct lineage I only know of one soldier aged man who survived the Civil War. Most fought for the CSA but owned no slaves. I have dying hatred for the concept of the Civil War being about slavery because of this. The guy that survived the war is the founder of Cherryville

3. I have an inferiority complex.

4. I have had a girlfriend for 4 years that I am totally in love with. I do, however, question if it is reciprocated equally...possibly due to #3 or possibly because she is what I consider a workaholic and I am rather slack until I get a project to work on.

5. I am straight edge, meaning I don't drink or smoke. I become more radicalized in that everyday. I have grown to the point where I despise the frat guy/sorority girl lifestyle. I try to change my feeling in this as to not be so prudish but it really makes me sick.

6. Aside from family the biggest thing I miss about NC is the Panthers games.

7. I put way too much stock in coincidences. I look for trends in everything. Baltimore was the first city I navigated my family around and now that I live here I can't help but find weird coincidences like God is telling me that I am doing right.

8. I identify with movie characters more than I do with real people but I feel stupid in saying that.

9. I graduated in 2003 from UNCG with a double major in Media Studies and History and a minor in business yet I don't feel that I know anymore about history than anyone else.

10. For some reason my phase of not wanting to leave home hit me at a much later age than it did most chicldren and I long for the past all the time. It makes me feel old and I worry I won't have time to accomplish all that I want.

The best thing about that area is that as "country" and simple as some areas are (and the Amish are mixed in with the non-Amish, so there are quite a few areas like that), one can go to the mall, restaurants, etc with just a short 10 minute drive. So it really is the best of both worlds.

The only reason I didn't get an annulment was because Texas has a 72-hour rule. And of course, being the spineless, wormy little church boy I was in those days, I didn't have the balls to put a stop to the wedding before it was too late. I sensed a grave disturbance in the Force beforehand, but was to wrapped up in "faith" that things would work out.

But the good side is that the experience cured me of my foolishness. I've said too much already.

Do that, but take it with a grain of salt. What it means for one person might be different for the next; the language of dreams is symbols, and we all have our own meanings for different things.

I read that our dream means fears about sexual inadequacy. Years ago that my have applied to me, but not anymore. Come to think of it, I haven't had that dream in a long-ass time!

If you dream of having false teeth this indicates that you will have unexpected help on a problem. To dream of rotten teeth shows that you have been telling someone a lie or using your smooth words for getting your own way no matter what. If your teeth are rotten, crooked, and/or falling out this means that your lies are hurting someone very badly and that you will soon be found out. If you dream you have swallowed a tooth you will soon have too 'eat your words'. It becomes much easier to interpret this kind of dream if you think of teeth as representing words. When the dreamer is not the one with the bad teeth you will naturally have to watch out for someone lying to you.

I've been having dreams of UFO's since I was young and the last two have been unnerving. The most recent i had right before i got married. A pal's friend said that UFO's usually represent a fear of the unknown or heading into unfamiliar territory (marriage).

10) I once set a big wooded area on fire (2nd grade) and the fire got out of control, that happens when you start a fire with plenty of pine needles around. So the first thing I did was call my mom...she put the whole thing out, about a .25 of an acre worth of fire. I got whooped that night....

This is apparently a popular activity among kids. My sister did this too, when she was 6. She & her best friend said they were trying to toast bread in the woods behind our house. The fire department had to come put it out.

1 I am the first born and have one younger brother (three years). My fathers family tree goes back to a Duke in England and horse thieves in Texas. I have sixteen Confederate Veterans in my family but was born in Indiana. My ancestry is German, English and Irish.
2 I have never gotten along with my mother.
3 It would be a terrible world if there was no coffee or newspaper in the morning.
4 I am a gregarious loner. I love solitude and would rather be home in the mountains than anywhere.
5 I can do about anything and have extra common sense if looking at other humans is any Gage. Sometimes I don't see how some people made it to be as old as they are.
6 When I die I will miss women and music the most, but not necessarily in that order.
7 If you can get me started working I am hard to stop.
8 I love dogs.
9 I thought pot would be legal by 1980.
10 I have traveled the country back and forth many times, three times hitch hiking. I am glad I did it while I was young. Do as much as you can while you are young. It is not guaranteed that you will get old.
11 Cherish your best friends, I have out lived four of mine so far. I miss them more than I can think about.

i am exactly 11 years, 9 months, and 28 days younger than my brother that is closest in age to me.

i drove my parents cadillac down the street, over a tree, down an embankment, and across a ditch when i was 2.

i'm the best snowball thrower on the block.

on one play in termite football, i was the first guy of the double reverse, but i kept the ball because the kid i was to hand it to had already scored that day and i needed my points too. ran a touchdown for 70 yards.

i used to slip marathon bars down the side of my tube socks from the mr. zips.

i found a live queen conch in the turks and caicos and took it to the chef at the third turtle inn and we had conch soup for dinner that night. i still have the conch and it is still beautiful 25 years later.

i started driving for real when i was 14.

i lived in the same house from the time i was born until i left for college.

i skipped a lot of classes in college.

i never skip work.

i handed a glass of water to an old man that had just finished dancing. he collapsed and died.

i saw a man punch a nun.

i am the only person with my last name in the charlotte phone book.

when i was alter server, i would sleep during much of the mass cos i would be hungover.

i like pbr.

the happiest i've been all week was last night when my boy went with the pitch and drove a sweet single to right field.

I'm named after Bob Dylan.

I'm very close with my parents, not so much with other relatives.

In Al Bundy-like fashion, I once hit three home runs in a high school baseball game.

I have one brother (five years younger) who stayed in Southern California when the rest of the family moved to NC. He's lived in the same house his entire life. I've lived in 5.

I've said only a few things in my lifetime I wish I could take back. In fact, I can only think of two words: "I do."

I've seen several significant sporting events in person: Eric Dickerson breaking OJ Simpson's single season rushing total, Kirk Gibson hitting a home run in game one of the 1988 World Series, Magic Johnson breaking the all time assist record, Reggie White's first home game for the Packers (in Milwaukee) and George Brett getting his 3,000th hit.

My first concert was Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks at Irvine Meadows in 1982.

I worked at Chuck E. Cheese when I was 16, but I was never the mouse.

I like all of the Law & Order programs.

I have one child - a beautiful almost 3 year old daughter. She made a poopie in the toilet last night at my house.

okay here goes.

1. i sometimes care too much about what other people think about me. to mask my insecurities i try to come across tough or bitchy but that is not who i am inside. few people close to me know the real me.

2. i have only ever been in love with one person even though there have been many times i don't like him.

3. i have very few regrets in life.

4. school (all of them) were merely social gatherings places for me, i did not apply myself to excel i was content with just having fun on the ride. i believe i have come to the point in my life that i am ready for another ride.

5. i love being alive - "live long, laugh often, love much" i live by those few words, they have been good to me. i believe in God and i am proud of that.

6. i judge people far too often. i know this not my place to do and i am not proud of it.

7. i have looked in a persons eyes and seen evil, he is the only person i have ever met that gave me that feeling. i had a woman touch me once and tell me things about myself she NEVER could have known. i was pregnant (not yet showing) with curtis at the time. she told me when he would be born and that he was a boy. she spoke of my deceased grandfather and how he would always be with my child. this woman scared me yet comforted me at the same time. she also said a few other things i'm not going into. she told me my orha(sp) was white/yellow and my spirit was beautiful. i have always thought she was an angel, her eyes were dark brown and gave (this sounds silly) my soul comfort. * this is getting long.* years ago when i worked at the bank i met her again. she walked up to my window and handed me her transaction. i barely looked at her because it was so busy at the time but when i reached to take her deposit i touched her hand. i felt almost a shock of electricity that filtered through every part of my body. i immediately looked up and it was her. she just smiled, i did her transaction. we chatted in an odd sort of way, i wanted to ask her so many things. sheasked me how "curtis" was and told me "cheer" told her he was a beautiful boy. cheer was my popop's nickname...she told me he was "meant to walk". there is a story here that is longer than i want to type but this had meaning to me. anyway the woman next to me listened to the whole thing. after the line of customers was gone andrea (the teller next to me) asked who she was. i said "mary something" i went back to look at her transaction slip. i hoped for information to conact her outside of work. it was gone. i looked into my computer for the information i typed in, it too was gone. i have a 2 minute gap with no transactions on a friday at lunch time, not possible. to this day everyone in the bank with me that day is not sure what to think. they all saw i did the work and held the paper trail. another weird one was we were so miffed by this we looked at the video tapes. the camera was blurry white for 9.something minutes. i have no idea why she came to me but i believe i will see her again one day.

8. i talk too much.

9. my children are the best kids in the world, imo of course.

10. i wanted to say more but i tend to go off on a rant and forget what i wanted to say.

*bonus- there is a reason i fell into tbr but to date i do not know it.
