View Full Version : Worst Rock and Roll Band
Sitting stuck in traffic this afternoon listening to Rock92 when what comes on but one of the worst, lamest songs by one of the all time lamest bands.
Of course they are from the 80's ( with the rare exception, the lost decade of rock and roll ) and with no further fanfare, the loser is :
Loverboy - Life is Just a Fantasy. UGGGHHHHH!!!!
As if being stuck in traffic wasn't bad enough. This 80's Canandian hair band may be the worst of the worst. I'm sure some can come up with your own "favorites"
I believe it's Boston. They whine more then country singers.
if i never hear anything from air supply or chicago again, it'll be too soon.

Aerosmith. I can't think of a band that comes close to being as unbearably bad, except perhaps Van Halen, post-David Lee Roth, or Cheap Trick.

toto
REO Speedwagon
I'll drink to that too. Add Flock of Seagulls to the list.

Van Halen - after 30 some years and 3 lead singers they still only have a handful of hits. They have maybe one hit per album with the rest of the songs sucking. They have to be the most overrated band of all time.

Old Boston Rocked!
Probably J. Giels (sp)one of the worst
I second the Toto vote, although I don't think they actually qualify as a rock band. I get sick to my stomach any time I hear the beginning strains of "Africa" or "Rosanna".
Aerosmith - the worst???
I loved their old stuff - Mama Kin, Walking the Dog, Train Kept a Rollin; those songs rocked.

Well I guess I'm just a loser. I like every one of the bands listed (most of them a lot) with the exception of Toto, who I don't hate, I just don't care about.
80's rock compared to the shitty crap of the 90's in my opinion.
Maybe this should be one of my "embarrassing likes" in Sportsgirls thread.

RADIOHEAD? I actually like maybe 3 of their songs from the last 3 albums. But otherwise, I guess you're right. They pretty much suck. SouthPark had a nice depiction of them on the Scott Tenorman Must Die episode this season...Cartman gets his Pubes.
I gotta say Limp Bizkit, Creed, and Stryper.

I just reread my post here and I need to clear something up just in case Fred reads it and gets the wrong Idea about me. Im saying eeeeewwwwwwwwwww yukkkkkkkkyyyyyyyyyy not because Boy George is gay, Im saying it because Boy George is the ugliest thing Ive seen and to picture him rolling around in the hay with anyone just turns my stomach. I forgot about that Toto band. As soon as I hear Roseanna or Africa I turn the station. I also cant stand the B 52's.
you can't stand the b-52s? whats wrong with you?
i hope you are talking about the last albums, after their drummer died. they are one of my all time favorites, ya know. definately a great southern rockin band, man.

Im sorry Larry but that damn song love shack keeps running through my mind. Someone burn it down Pleeeeeeassssssseeeeeeeeee lol. I listened to Posion, Ratt, Guns n Roses, White Lion, Mettalica when they were good, White Snake, Prince (before he became the artist), Billy Idol, Madonna. In 70's when I was a teen I listened too Led, Eric Clapton, you know the stuff you could mellow out too?

At the risk of being lynched (being here in NC), I'd have to go with Lynyrd Skynyrd. "Freebird" is the corniest damn song ever written.
I gotta agree with LarryD - The B52's rock. Great party songs. Saw them live - high energy to say the least.
My kids love em too - they beg me to play Cosmic Thing every time we get in the car.
i saw the b's, rem, pylon and the indigo girls back in the 80s in atlanta. they'd pop into a cozy bar in little five points unannounced. way cool.

The Beatles
Had to be the worse ever. No talent and they were'nt from around here.

Now now Puttingood, TinyTigget would disagree with you about the Beatles. Her favorite Beatle is John Lennon. She listens to both his old stuff and the stuff he played after the Beatles split up. As for me? I can handle the Beatles in small doses.
"She loves you yeah yeah yeah and I want to hold your hand when I saw her standing there" "Ill take you down Penny Lanes to Strawberry Fields forever" Then we will hit "Abby Road to find that Walrus." Oh by the way, TinyTigget is only 15 :p
Gunz & Roses. Gag me with a spoon.

Devo was/is the Bomb. New Tradionalist and Freedom of Choice are two of the all time best.

I can tolerate G n' R. Their late stuff became a little too mainstream, but their first album, Lies was pretty decent. Regardless, Axel was/is a arrogant prick.
Not sure I'd clasify them as Rock and Roll, but I absolutely detest Sting/The Police. I know he has a huge following but I've never been able to stand his music.

Thanks Chuck, you couldn't have possibly picked out a song by them I hate more than that one. Of course, without it, I'm not sure WRFX (99.7) would have a play list. :D
Worst Rock and Roll?
Bad Company gives me hives.
Flock of Seagulls, and yes, hair metal bands rocked...not.
Anything from Yes after Bruford left.
Phil Collins (perhaps the most annoying old fart), includig all post Gabriel Genises.
Limp Bitzcut and all that crap. RATM is the only rap metal band I ever liked.

Wasn't Appetite for Destruction before GNR Lies? Appetite is one of the best rock albums of all time (top 20 or so, I'd say)

Yep, you're right BigMark. :o Appetite was released in 1987, while Lies came out in 1989. Lies sounds just so much more "raw" than Appetite and for some reason I thought it was an earlier release. Appeitite was much more mainstream, whereas the only track off of Lies to get any airtime was Patience. Love "One In A Million."
Kind of amazing how big G N' R was there for a while. In the early 90's, I saw Metallica actually open up for G N' R in Columbia, SC. Great show, but that's when Metallica turned into a bunch of wusses, playing "radio" music. :D
