Sorry I took so long but I have the schedule for the girls portion of the Freedom Christmas Invitational.

Fri Dec 26:

Butler vs Hopewell 12:30 pm
Harding vs Enka 3:30 pm
McDowell vs North Meck 6:30 pm

Sat. Dec 27:

Butler vs North Meck 12:30 pm
Enka vs Hopewell 3:30 pm
McDowell vs Harding 6:30 pm

Mon Dec 29:

Butler vs Harding 12:30 pm
Enka vs North Meck 3:30 pm
McDowell vs Hopewell 6:30 pm


These game times are the scheduled time for play. There are boys games being played in between so there may be some delay or some may start a bit early. In any case, just come on up to Morganton and enjoy a days worth of Basketball

I know there are a bunch of other tourneys going on in the area, feel free to post here...

I know the A. C. Reynolds girls are in the High Point Central Christmas Tournament. The same tournament in which we have lost the championship game to High Point Cental the past two year. I am not sure who else is in the tournament, but I do know High Point Central is ranked #3 in the ihigh poll in 3A so again ACR girls are facing stiff competition. The Rockets only losses this year have both come to #1 ranked in 3A Asheville High. Should be a great tournament for the girls and a good test for them before the NW4A conference gets really fired up.

The A. C. Reynolds Lady Rockets play West Forsyth on Friday the 26th at 4:30 at HP Central. They will then go on to play the winner of the #1 ranked 1A Thomasville/Ragsdale game on Saturday the 27th at 4:30. West Forsyth isn't in the tournament, they are filling in for a team that pulled out, and are just playing one game to give the Lady Rockets a first round game. The Lady Rockets are in the semi-finals already. :cool:

I went to the Hickory Paper website to see if there was any info on the Catawba Valley Classic, and couldn't find anything. If there is someone who knows the schedule, please post on here.

A. C. Reynolds Lady Rocket won their first game of the High Point Central tournament, defeating West Forsyth 63-48. The Lady Rockets will now face the #1 ranked 1A team and 2 time defending state champion Thomasville. Thomasville earlier this year defeated a very good Charlotte Christian team, the same Charlotte Christian team that beat #1 ranked 3A Asheville High this past week. Should be a very tough test for the Lady Rockets, who are trying to prepare for the challege of the NW4A conference!

Butler over Hopewell


To be honest, the level of play was not that good. Butler and Hopewell was run and shoot, the entire game. Not much of an organized offense from both teams.

North Meck was no match for McDowell after the first 5 minutes of the game. Anna Atkinson had another very good all around game recording a triple double, the 2nd of her career. 21 points, 12 steals, 10 assists. Emily Lovik lead the Lady Titans in scoring with 23 points, 10 steals, 8 assists.

Enka and Harding was the most even matchup of the three. Harding played much of the first half in a 2-3 zone, but decided to make the game a full court game in the 2nd half. They grabbed the lead and never gave it back.

Well, the Lady Rockets lost to ANOTHER #1 ranked team, making it the third time they did so this year. They have lost twice to #1 ranked Asheville High, and now to #1 ranked Thomasville. I guess no shame in that huh. Nothing will prepare you for the NW4A better than playing the best I guess. Oh well, ACR loses tonight 64-49 to Thomasville. The Lady Rockets take on Cave Spring, VA, Monday at 2pm at High Point Central.

McDowell beat Harding 80-67 tonight at the Freedom Christmas Tourney. North Meck defeated Butler and Hopewell defeated Enka in other action down in Morganton. And speaking of Freedom, the Freedom girls loss in the first round of the Deep South Classic down in Atlanta. They lost to Westminster Private School 58-51. They will play the loser of Providence Christian and Collins Hill (GA) in a losers bracket game Monday morning, 9:30 am.

A. C. Reynolds finished up the High Point Central Tournament taking 3rd place in a easy victory over Cave Spring, VA 75-47. The Lady Rockets were up by as many as 36 at one point in the 4th quarter. Good to see the Lady Rockets bounce back from the loss to #1 Thomasville on Saturday. Sophomore Alex Thompson led the Lady Rockets in scoring with 20 points, hitting 4 three's, while junior Katie Rybacki (welcome back from injury) hit 3 three's and added 15 points. Reynolds pressure defense caused countless turnovers, which led to a lot of easy baskets.

McDowell completed the 3 game sweep at the Freedom Christmas Tourney by defeating Hopewell, 71-56.

After losing in the first round to Westminster Private School, the Freedom Lady Patriots came back and defeated Providence Christian by the score of 67-49. The Lady Patriots play Holy Innocents today at 2pm.

I haven't seen anything mentioned about the Catawba Valley Classic, which East Burke and Alex. Central were playing in?

East Burke- Not really sure about any of the other games but I know they beat St. Stephens 65-61 yesterday (maybe for 3rd place?)

Alexander- Haven't heard or read anything about them

Watauga- was in their tournament they always host and beat Avery 51-49 and lost to Haysi 49-43

South Caldwell- plays tonight in the Holiday Classic at East Lincoln for the championship they beat Moorseville 57-29 and beat Bandys yesterday 58-43

If anyone can fill me in if those scores or things are wrong then please feel free cause this is just things I've read

The Freedom Lady Patriots finished up play in the Deep South Classic today with a 69-50 win over Holy Innocents.Freedom won 2 out of 3 games and enter conference play with an 8-3 record.Good Job Ladies.

I didn't know what Myers Park had, but saw in the paper they are like 4-6. I'm telling that Owen team is tough and I would think go far in the 2A brackets.
