My basement bar-family room. I was hoping to have it done by Super Bowl Sunday but it looks like I'm gonna come up short one bar top. Here are the pics I posted about 10 months ago.

when my daughter's practicing I really have to crank the volume to drown it out. The surround sound is awesome in there, although as Dave will point out, the TV could be a little bigger.
nice room, grid. TV is weak but otherwise it looks good

Dave, For cheap I could build deck-to-canopy cabinets on your boat, with a space for that plasma set. It would whip some serious ass.

Nice job, grid. Is that just decorative grid-work on the ceiling or is that some type of big drop ceiling panel.

Decorative grid work on the ceiling? I know I can't shoot that high

basement ceilings were only 80 inches so I had no room for a drop. Those are 8-by-4 sheets of subflooring with flat molding used to cover the seams. Fuck of a lot easier than drywall and since they're stapled up, I can easily (well, not easily) remove them if I ever need to get to my wiring, run water lines for when I put a sink in the bar, etc.

always. I have some free cold Bass, Heineken and Mich light in the fridge now. Not to mention some free cold ginger ale to mix with the free room temperature Crown Royal.

If I were a woman, or a much better looking version of Builder, I would swoon.

Wow. That is exactly what I am doing with my basement. Are the niches/storage space simply built into the drywall?
I noticed you have a trunk line for the HVAC. I've got one running the length of my basement too. What did the HVAC guys have to do, just install a couple of vents? Did they put another thermostat down there or do you heat/cool it using one from upstairs? My basement is 1400 square feet and studded and plumbed for 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a large living area and a kitchenette. I have two HVAC units for the house but I don't know how it will be controlling the temperature down there. I have a feeling it will be too cold most of the time.. either that or maybe too hot if the thermostat upstairs also heats/cools the downstairs as the air volume upstairs is a lot bigger. I don't know how that's gonna work.
The heating and AC ducts are about three feet from the walls. I just faced them off with drywall and built the cabinets straight down. I cut the vents out myself. Still one thermostat for the whole house. I close the basement vents during the summer because you don't need AC down there. Hell, I think I only used the AC in the main part of the house a couple times all last summer. I have no problem heating this room along with the upstairs with one unit because it's only around 400 square feet. I just need to make sure I keep the door closed to the laundry room and my shop.
no thanks
I dunno Dave I think a pontoon with a 50" TV would be pretty great. Hell you could stay tied up and show tapes of lake norman rushing by and just sit there and drink.

Can you mount a dish on top of a pontoon?

how many does your boat hold Dave? Some of those monsters can accommodate more than two or three dozen people.

I did that, only I put a camcorder on my shoulder and filmed some of my favorite drives around here like going on the Parkway and through the 9 tunnels to Asheville. I'm glad I did, the traffic is so bad in the summer I can kick back, get high, take a ride and burn no gas or have any close calls.
i drive a sienna, not a caravan.

Wow. You really did think this through. Maybe you're not as stupid as you look. Nice job. And don't let Dave bust your balls over a small tv. We all know he's just compensating for a small dick.
