View Full Version : 1st record you ever owned
The first 45 I ever owned was "I'm Just Me" by Charlie Pride. I loved that song. I would lay in the floor of my bedroom and play it over and over and over again. My dad finally came in after a bad day at work, grabbed the 45 off my record player, snapped it in half and handed it back to me as I sat there dumbfounded. I cried for 3 days till he bought me another one. My father was/is a saint. I would have killed me!

First was Strawberry Shortcake record.
I was so silly, I would set up my record player in front of the TV and play the record when the Strawberry Shortcake special came on. I had to get the record and the TV show in perfect sync.
First actual band record was Devo then Eye of the Tiger.
I thought I was so cool for having those albums.
record?
The first one I bought was Dr. Jack Van Impe and his lovely wife Rexella, as a gag gift I never ended up giving. Never listened to it. First actual record? lenny Kravitz, Let Love Rule, which was a gift to a chick named Wendy who I never ended up giving the record to.
CD? a Garth Brooks CD I gave my father and ended up sorta keeping.
first tape I had was a 2 live crew tape I found on a schoolbus going to a ball game.

I didn't own any records until I got into my teens, but I lived off all my parents Beatles and Beach Boys albums.
"Just a Swingin." Who is that, John Anderson?

Good choice on the Styx. I know every word on every song. It's a curse.
Dude, you're old.
Give me a job give me security. give me a chance to survive. I;'m just a poor soul in the unemployment line. by god i'm hardly alive. my mother and father. my wife and my friends somehting something. but I got the power and i got the will. I'm not a charity case. I'll take the long nights impossible odds. keeping my eye to the keyhole if it takes all night to be just who I am, well I'm gonna be a blue collar man.

I think it was a Rolling Stones deal. All I remember was the bright yellow label with the a mouth plastered on it. Might have been Honkey Tonk Woman 1969ish, but I would have only been 6ish years old so probably not that one...
It was either that or a Parlimont Record...

Earliest one I can remember was the soundtrack to "The Empire Strikes Back". I think the next one was "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John. Both were LP's. I don't remember having any 45's. When I was in junior high, I started buying Weird Al Jankovic albums, but that was about it.
I was never big into records. I used to make cassette tapes off Top 40 countdown shows on the radio, though. I did that A LOT.
First Record was a 45 (okay so I'm old)
I think it was
"I Fought the Law and the Law Won"

a 45, "Under Pressure" Queen + David Bowie. It's the one Vanilla Ice sampled for "Ice Ice Baby".
And I bought Duran Duran "Rio" not too long after that. Think I still have both in the attic somewhere.

First one I owned was Sgt. Pepper's by the Beatles. First one I bought was "Da doo Run Run" by Shaun Cassidy. I was sooooo in love with him. I used to watch the Hardy Boys all the time. Then when I discovered that Parker Stevenson had a hairy chest, I tossed Shaun to the curb like a used dish rag. I also hear Parker has a big ole dick. :mushy:
