GWU is playing a mighty tough D1 schedule and some of our local players are contributed alot. Abbie Looper has done a stand up job so far from what i have read.....her speed, experience and knowledge of the game is a welcomed surprise for Coach Cole. I will get a chance in a couple weeks to see her and GWU play and will provide abit more on their progress, results and insight. I do know they defeated UCONN 3-2 in ll ininngs and Winthrop 4-3 in 10 innings while also lossing to GA Tech 6-3 and 4-2. Not bad for a mid-level D1 school!!
GWU defeated Winthrop in Game one yesterday 6-5 and had game two called for darkness tied 7-7. The Bulldogs(6-10-1) lost to #23 University of Florida, 1-0 while they outhit the Gators but couldnt manage to squeeze a run from the tournament champions UF squad. Jenny Wallace, SR, catcher has one homerun to date and has played like the all conference player according to her coaches. Good luck Abbie and Jenny!
GWU plays only 12 home games this year and their next one is March 16 against Eastern Illionis, March 18 against Furman, March 20 against Belmont University and March 25 against conference rival, Troy State, AL. with each DH starting at 1 PM in Boiling Springs!
